Awesome video! I've been learning Ukrainian for about a month now and I am proud to say that I understand practically everything already (I am a native speaker of Slovenian, so Ukrainian is not all that difficult for me). I learn the vocabulary mainly from Президент Зеленський's speaches, and the writing from Duolingo, and I am very happy that I have discovered your site! I've wanted to learn some Ukrainian swearwords just so I can use them without people actually understanding that I'm actually telling them "to go somewhere", so the last two phrases will be particularly useful for me 🤣🤣 Great channel! I'm already looking forward to your next video!👍😊 Stay safe! Stay strong! Україна переможе! Слава всім українським героям! Вічна пам'ять кожному, хто загинув за Україну! Слава Україні!💙💛🇺🇦

You are the best! Much love from the USA!! Can you explain the feeling of people in the East and Crimea both before 2000 and now? I don’t want Russia to get even the Far East of Donbas or Crimea…but do most people there want to be a part of Russia? I know Russia caused the situation there and by now at least some Ukrainians have left the Far East of Ukraine which makes a vote there unfair. Plus some Russians moved into Crimea after 2014 which would also make a vote not fair. I so hope Ukraine drives Russia literally out of everything…then let Ukrainians work with Crimea and the Far East of Ukraine on a way forward with those regions STAYING in Ukraine. Russia has been stirring up dissension in Serbia, Georgia, Chechnya etc for over two decades. I don’t believe sanctions can stop until Russia is driven out AND starts paying War reparations. I am hopeful God is, through this current war (I don’t believe God caused it but uses it), judging the Russians AND Putin! Much love from America!

The Crimea was annexed in 2014y by rushists, while we're, Ukrainians, were fighting for our free democratic european future . it is called Revolution of Dignity(November 2013-February2014). In February2014 we had already more than 100 people(our Nebesna sotnya) killed in Kyiv. Russians put knife in Ukraine's back then, but our, Ukrainian, military volunteers had stopped them there, in the Donbass region(May2014). At the same time , russians occupied(March 2014) the Crimea because they were stronger by power and quantity, at that time. Not now Hope, it'll be useful info. Let's just let that sink in a little shall we..... We see Ukraine still defending harmony and goodness with their guts, will and thirst for freedom. Слава Україні !

Thank you so much for these phrases! 🥰 I recognise most of these from watching the news. I am only using the nice phrases, though...😅 At least not "death to enemies", because I am against violence and it is such a shame that the blood-related Ukraine, Belarus and Russia are engaged in this terrible conflict. I hope Ukraine can celebrate Palm Sunday in peace this year. That is my wish. 😁

When this slogan was created (during WW2 by their nazi group) you had to make a gesture with your arm like German nazi did after hi .itler 😃😃😃 so, that means for you it’s okay if people around gonna cry out hi .itler 😂😂😂

The variant "Glory to Ukraine!" with the answer "Glory to the Heroes!" was adopted as an organizational greeting password among members of the OUN and UPA at the beginning of World War II. Bandera movements supported by the Third Reich of Nazi Germany. Joseph Goebbels "Banderites are insane maniacs or, in other words, brutalized cattle. But these are the ones we need in this period of time to destroy the recalcitrant Slavs. And then they themselves must be destroyed, since animals have no place among people."

Useful information. I can well imagine Russians taking "Слава нації!" out of context and trying to convince us Westeners that the second word is something quite different... 😂

Actually I believe for Russians the word for Nation sounds even more like nazi (natsii or natsiya) There is a story behind how the term came to be in Germany and it is unfortunate that these words sound so similar but it shouldn't stop people from using them. Can you imagine if they were to strike Z from the Latin alphabet just because its being used the way it is in Russia? It might be the least used letter but that's really not the point.

@@Rob09734 There's indeed a clear etymological connection there - ultimately the context for use is key, as you pointed to in terms of Z. Though Zorro films do look a little funny now 😅

Ukrainian nationalists always wanted only one thing - Independent and Free Ukraine nation. That's why, throughout the Ukrainian history these hasla(slogans/mottos) were created. Glory to Ukraini. Glory to Heroes! Glory to nation (Ukrainian)! Death for enemies Ukrainians for centuries have been fighting only for this. For our, only our Land, Language, History, Culture, ancestral heritage from Rus' and Cossacks and most off all People - Ukrainians In our national anthem, there are words, We will give our souls and bodies for our freedom And will show that we are, brothers, in the Cossack breed born!
