One of the great tests of a teacher is to help students break down and understand complex ideas. You do it beautifully. This video is helping me understand some things that I had not understood previously. Велике спасибі, дорога вчителька!!

At the 20:11 "Is it difficult?" .... Yes! I'm a native English speaker that also speaks Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese. This is my first non-romance language I'm studying and my brain hurts lol. But I'm excited for the continued challenge! Thank you for this great channel and specifically these videos covering the two conjugation groups.

I just discovered your channel, teacher. And I'm really fascinated with the way that you explained, for a language so hard as Ukrainian is, it's great to have a teacher who focuses on to highlight every tiny detail, you just won a new follower.

Inna, if you can say owl in English, just precede it with your B sound in Ukrainian. Just a tip. Instead, I like your English accent as a Ukrainian speaker, so I don't actually mind. Your lessons are really meaningful to me. Thanks.

Are there perhaps some downloadable worksheets where I could practice these? This is a lot to remember without systematic practice. Love the lesson, I'm taking notes on everything you teach. You are very clear, it's just a lot for my brain!

This is a really good video but I got lost very fast. I would suggest conjugating 1 verb for all the cases ( Yes writing down everything and no shortcuts) . Repeat the cycle( conjugating 1 verb for all the cases) with several other verbs. Once the students get the pattern then give them some complicated ones. Another suggestion I would recommend is that it's ok to erase your whiteboard during a KZbin session and not cram everything into one. Students have the ability to pause KZbin and take better notes. The third suggestion, once you give them a lot of examples then have the student try themselves. Challenge them to do it while you conducting your video. The fourth suggestion is that table format is very important in teaching since some people are visual learners. Pick one table format and stick with it. I have seen 3 rows and 2 columns format (on your flash card) and other formats it's all in one column (in your video).

It seems like the "irregularities" are there because it makes the sounds easier to say. "Я сиду" is very clumsy, it's hard for your tongue to transition smoothly between these sounds. "Я сиджу" seems like a natural way for those sounds to be flow into each other. And it seems to be exactly the same with "-ять", it flows better than "-ать " for this word. This was also apparent in your video on the first conjugation group, when removing the infinitive ending left you with not enough syllables. It would make the words sound bad, so you don't do it according to the exact rules. The real lesson here, I think, is that the language existed before the rules. The rules (and the writing) describe the language, but they didn't shape it.

Hi Inna, thanks for your videos - I'm using your flashcards and exercise book and your videos are super helpful for filling in the gaps! I am on a mission to watch all your videos! I just have a question, as I'm a little confused about "ви": Here you've said that ви is the FORMAL version for "you", however, I've also heard ви is the PLURAL form of "you", so, is ви also a plural form as well as being formal? (Or have I been misguided??) Спасибі заздалегідь! Also, Happy Cossack Day for yesterday!🎉😉 Love from a Кубанський козак in New Zealand. 🙆💫🍀🌻💛💙🦄

@@innasopronchuk so for clarity you said to write down and remember -ити is in the first conjugation group but now we are saying it's in both , ok so how do we recognize which group it's in what is the rule ? What puts one word ending with -ити into the first conjugation group and therefore what puts a word ending with -ити into the 2nd?

їздити - їжджу? It's really cool to trace back this panslavic palatalization, when зʲ and дʲ (in something proto-Slavic like, I guess, ězʲdʲu, essentially "єзьдю") transformed into жʲ and дʲжʲ, and then to ж and дж, which was preserved in a language
