This stalled convoy situation keeps bringing back memories of watching combat film from the Russian occupation of Afghanistan. A cameraman was following the Mujahadin planning a convoy ambush of less than a dozen trucks. The road was midway up a mountain. The Mujahadin were hiding in the trees above the road. Below the road was just the slope of the mountainside, ie. more forest. They hit the trucks with very few RPGs, mostly small arms, bringing it to a stop. The Russians that weren't dead fell out of the trucks and the Mujahadin walked down closer to the road and started finishing them off with their personal weapons. None of the Russians seemed to be putting up a resistance, just trying to get away. I always remember one fat unarmed Russian struggling to crawl along the dirt road and a "rebel" walked within feet and shot him where he lay and moved on looking for anymore. It was no action movie, just real, deliberate killing. No prisoners. These Russians in Ukraine are being treated much more humanely in comparison.
