Even as a hull fan yes it’s extremely painful but I see that there was absolutely no need for Griffin to drop the ball. All’s he had to do was just plant the ball down then revive the treatment

A lot of Hull fans are saying that Fages should of left it when Griffin dropped it. Would anyone do the same thing that Fages did

So good to read these comments of fans who actually know the rules. Harsh on griffin but why did he drop the ball??? He was almost in the floor just lay on it and the ref calls time off.

Everyone going on about Fages, I was there when Scott Gibbs dislocated his elbow and I don't recall Wigan saying it's ok you keep the ball I remember them getting and keeping possession.

Two very strong teams this year going toe to toe. Fages did what he is payed to do , within the rules ......yes Harsh........yes Wouldn’t have liked it if it happened against my team. Boot on the other foot and Griffin would have done exactly the same thing , of that I have no doubt.

As a Cas fan I would've been pissed off if any of our players scored a try like Fages'. The only right thing to do in that situation imo is leave it or kick the ball out, Griffin is in agony and his seasons just been ended. Shows a lack of class and sportsmanship, you shouldn't take advantage of your opponent rupturing his Achilles and then celebrate like you've scored a worldie. The fair thing to do after would be to follow Marcelo Bielsa's example a couple years back.

The whole punditry team said that they all would’ve done the same. In that moment you don’t know what’s happened and Fages did the right thing in the second, he didn’t celebrate like anything, he scored and took advantage of griffins mistake of not going down with the ball. Cruel but fair 🤷‍♂️

Griffin dropped the ball, the balls still in play. You play to the whistle. Fages had every right to play on and score. You get taught to go down WITH the ball if you're hurt. If I was Brett Hodgson I would have been mad at griffin for dropping it. I feel sorry for griffin as I know he was in agony but you cant just drop the ball like that. Play on, try was scored, nothing wrong with it.

@@stdutchy7082 As pro players and doctors have since been saying, Griffin's injury is one that gives you such immediate pain that your body's instinctual reaction is to free your hands as quickly as possible so you can drop to the floor. Holding on to the ball would've been the last thing he was thinking or caring about in that moment because apparently it feels like you've been shot. What's legal isn't necessarily what's fair. I 100% agree that Fages is fully within the rules to pick up the ball and score. However, it is still not moral or fair, and completely not in the spirit of the game

@@mattyrob6453 Bit of a coincidence that the entire commentary team would've continued but literally ONLY Fages did this in the game. Makinson, Naiqama, and the other 3 or 4 Saints players near Griffin all immediately stopped and called for the physio. The entire Hull team stopped playing aswell. I disagree that the try was fair, it was absolutely legal but it was also completely against the spirit of the game.
