I can say with certainty, the battles fought were poorly won. But I suppose the war rages on. My efforts have been less than respectable and lately I have considered the unforgivable notion of giving up. My sword has been neglected. My dignity once again scrambled. I sit at the edge of this cliff, gazing into emptiness. The blue skies and the curvature of the horizon’s mountains stretch out before me. This time it all feels like a bad dream I have yet to awaken from. There is still a ray of peace though, even as the sun peeks through the clouds. It makes me think, there is still a spark somewhere, there is still a reason to get up and fight back. I didn’t come this far to die. To give up. To run away. Swords can be reforged, guns; reloaded, bows; calibrated, and so too can willpower be resuscitated. Today is the day and so is tomorrow. I did not come this far in life to die. We can live again and we will.

You end up in a cold room, dark and empty. Closed windows, locked doors. Your eyes have adapted to the small light that seeps into the holes of your curtains. You stand in the middle of the room and you have finally become that "nothing" you had seen in a strange and penetrating dream !

You may like Sephiroth, I find his style very similar to this track. Try starting with 'Dark Father' or 'Now the night...'. It's a bit darker than this though. There's also Coph Nia, but they are WAY darker than this or even Sephirot. If that's not a problem, start with 'The End' or 'Credo V'.
@BravenTooth7 жыл бұрын
Sephiroth IS Ulf Soderberg. It's just a different project of his. Unfortunately, I searched for a LONG time to find dark, ritual ambience like Ulf/Spehiroth but.. it just simply does not exist. There are some other artists that try, but they go mroe towards the 'dark' instead of the 'ritual' /'naturalistic' part. There's just something primal and magical in Ulf's pieces. Listened to his albums thousands of times, also during Pen & Paper RP sessions. Fitting perfectly.

Thank you all for your recommendations but of course i was listening always to this kinda stuff but this always sounds to me a bit too medieval if u know what i mean.... its not so psychoacustic than this track here.... its really something different then the usual "dark ambient" stuff on youtube here.... only thing for me that comes close to this track is this example here: ASC - Nothing More To Give

He is amazing he knows what a vikingmusic is, what do you know about vikingmusic?
@paulziolo92418 жыл бұрын
+Mattias Wilhelmsson I think Ulf Soderberg might know very well what a 'viking; is - he's a church organist from Northern Sweden. But don't you think his music expresses, not so much the viking world, but the transcendence of the Northern Forests? I've spent much of my life in N. Canada.
@mattiaswilhelmsson39928 жыл бұрын
Ohh is that soo but i can tell you if i hear a vikingmusic in my ear then it will be soo okey Paul Ziolo?
@paulziolo92418 жыл бұрын
Okay - no problem here. I myself have Viking ancestry through the Orkneyinga dynasty and carry one of the ancestral rings(the Ring of Peace). This is through one ancestral side (the other is Slav-Mongol). All I'm saying here is that Ulf Soderberg's music conveys Spengler's vision of the 'universal boreal culture' expressed by tipis on the northern Yenisei, Norwegian stave churches and Slavic Orthodox 'tent-style' onion dome churches.

All of these music pieces sorta remind me of what I always wanted to do, all the places I wanted to go and days I wanted to spend with my best friend. Calm walks in foggy forests, fishing in a boat on an ocean, taking a plane ride to somewhere new. Camping out in a forest with trees that seem a mile high, staying inside a warm building while rain pours outside. Never got to do any of that though. Wonder where she is these days
