Ultima 7 Parts 1 & 2 Complete Roland MT-32 Soundtrack

This is the complete soundtrack of both parts of Ultima VII, The Black Gate and Serpent Isle, for Roland MT-32. All other recordings we have found are either incomplete, low-fidelity, had dropouts, play some files with the wrong reverb settings, at the wrong tempo, or play some custom timbres incorrectly. The latter three problems may be because Origin's own "Audio CD Vol. 2" suffers from these problems. "Serpent Isle" reuses almost all of "Black Gate"'s songs, albeit with slightly different reverb settings.
The recordings were produced using MUNT in floating-point mode with an MT-32 v1.07 control ROM. Errors in Serpent Isle's MIDI files, leading to the first notes of a song being cut off, have been corrected. Sound effects have been removed from "Black Gate"'s endgame MIDI file to create a music-only recording. Very quiet songs, such as the Shrines' music, have been slightly increased in volume to provide a more balanced listening experience. All "Black Gate" songs use "Black Gate"'s reverb settings, with the exception of "Magic Tricks", "Emp Theme" and "Torture", which use Serpent Isle's reverb settings, as "Black Gate" had no special settings for them at all.

Me too, great melody. Honestly I've never played U7, the only ultima game I liked was UltimaUnderworld. However the melody of Fellowship theme (known by me as ultima20.mid) I was listening for a long time...

This comment might be beyond nerdy, but I would like to point out something. The music that starts at 107:30 is labeled Hierophant of Order. The 2 Hierophants the Avatar encounters in Serpent Isle are the Chaos Hierophant and the Balance Hierophant. The Order Hierophant went into the wall of lights and the Avatar does not encounter him. It should be labeled Hierophant of Balance. I dare you to find a nerdier comment on KZbin. :)

After ultima 7 pt2 the series really collapsed in on itself. Now EA holds the rights to the franchise and origin has been reduced to a crummy game launcher like steam.

Whenever I installed a computer game as a kid, I always saw the option for Roland MT-32, but had to make do with my Adlib and later Sound Blaster. I would have loved to have one, but there was no way. I don't even know anybody who ever had one. It makes me wonder how many gamers there were that were actually lucky enough to have one back in the day...

@@holden6104 I had one on PC, in fact it was a daughter card general midi roland MPU401 chip compatible with MT32 in games and it sounded exactly like what we hear on this video, must be used as an extension of a sound card sound blaster, it looks like a square card around 15cms x 15cms you plug it above the sound blaster card on a dedicated connector. The music was so amazing I used to record some music on magnetic tapes with a direct line in cable.

It is not in the game's resource files, the game cannot play a tune that is not in the game resources.

@@tohopes I have just verified that the file that contains all in-game (i.e. excluding Intro/Main Menu/Ending) music, MT32MUS.DAT, is identical between the original floppy disk version (displaying "3.0"), the original floppy disk version with the Forge of Virtue add-on applied (displaying "3.4"), the later floppy disk version (displaying "3.4"), and "The Complete Ultima VII" CD-ROM (displaying "3.4"), all dated 1992-03-12 01:51a with CRC32 CBD20975. And that file does not contain that song. It sounds more like a homebrew arrangement of Ultima VI's "Character Creation", incorporating orchestration from Ultima VII's "Stones" and "Chamber Music". I am absolutely sure at this point that this song never appeared in the game, and that either Pekka Leppaluoto or somebody who sent him files to record/upload was mistaken or worse. If you disagree, please point to a gameplay video that plays this song in-game.

@@tohopes North America and European Union. It is completely unthinkable that different markets would receive different versions of the MIDI music. The song is not heard in any non-homebrew version of the game.

​@@RodConvoy1987 According to GoG : "Ultima 7 The Complete Edition includes: Ultima 7: The Black Gate, Ultima 7: Forge of Virtue, Ultima 7 Part Two: Serpent Isle, Ultima 7 Part Two: The Silver Seed." The two main games are Black Gate and Serpent Isle and they are separate games. Forge of Virtue is the expansion pack for Black Gate and Silver Seed is the expansion pack for Serpent Isle. The expansion packs cannot be played standalone and 99% of their extra content can be avoided if you wish. When they are installed to their respective games, they modify those games' title screen. If you want true vanilla Black Gate or Serpent Isle, you will need to install them from floppy disks or floppy disk images (TGoD).

@@NerdlyPleasures I did that already. All it did was give me FoV and SS. One staff person on the gog forum stated trying to uninstall Gog Galaxy and try again but I'm not sure it will work. Need to download all remaining games on there before doing that, but I need to know for sure if doing that would allow me to play the originals (TBG & SI) then the remakes (FoV & SS).
