Heres a tip: USe the RX 7 because it has a higher rev range gives more speed or acceleration in mid corners and corner exit.

Very low fps can affect your speed making you teleport back in multiplayer lobbies, for the being scared part, do every run as if there is no tomorrow, dont be scared and full send it, its part of the time attacking, and this is one of the main reasons getting a good times requires grinding
