--
In this video, I made a DIY Power Bank with 40AH 18650 cells from 18650 salvaged from old laptop batteries. This Power Bank charge laptop, phone, other power bank and even run sewing machine. It have 12volt outlet and torch light for camping. this power bank is connected with the solar setup, so its charged and adds more capacity to my solar system setup.
I used my previously made 40cell Charging & Capacity Testing Station to know the capacity of the cells for repacking the cells into a proper battery packs.

• 12v 70Ah Battery pack ...
Many more 18650 related videos to come.
I was contacted by JLCPCB a few months ago about their interest in sponsoring some of my projects and providing me with pcbs to speed up my projects. So I decided to restart my 18650 battery pack build project that I've always wanted to do for a ago time but got busy.

WARNING: Do everything at your own risk, lithium batteries can catch fire or explode if mishandled. This power bank requires a more than a basic understanding of electronic to complete.

*A quiet **Generater.Systems** , love the dual fuel capabilities, camper is 50 amp but the adapter helps and found it still handles the load. Haven't taken a camping trip yet, that's in a couple of weeks. Will see how well it does over a long weekend.*

We have used the kzbin.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

amazing build. i liked the fact that you didnt use a cheap bms. i hate those pesky circuit boards as well. also loved the fact that you individually fused all batteries. if i may add someone who is planning to replicate this 1. the busbars should be placed more evenly for uniform current distribution 2. spot welding goes a long way and doesnt damage cells 3. heat sink for that big cob led 4. last but not the least, balance cable to periodically balance the cells. All in all a very enjoyable build

I love the concept, but I'm a little concerned about how little support that 220V inverter board had. I little heads up on efficiency for charging a laptop, fit a cigarette lighter socket and us an in car power supply that boosts the 12V to 19V for the laptop. I build portable CCTV towers for building site security, the old towers were 2x 12V lead acid in parallel, the PC inside them was 12V but the camera was 24V. This system used a 300W inverter to boost to 220V, then an AC toroidal transformer to drop back down to the 24V for the head. In one test, I replaced the inverter and AC toroidal for a cheap boost converter board, the power consumption of the camera dropped from over 6Ah to just over 2Ah. You will get more charges of the laptop if you only boost to 19V rather than up to 220V just to convert back down to 19V. The guts of our old towers have now been replaced with a much more efficient system that with "2nd use" EV packs in place of the old lead acid.

@@ponkuna I’m not an idiot. I didn’t mention anything about ‘ultrafire’ cells or cheap Chinese junk powerbanks. I’m talking about powerbanks from reputable brands like Anker, Ravpower, Ugreen etc etc. Some big retailers (Amazon, scan, ebuyer, etc) discount them occasionally to get rid of old stock ...e.g powerbanks with micro-usb ports which are pretty much obsolete here in the U.K. You can even get 10,000mah powerbanks with USB-C and PD for £10 any day without hunting around or waiting for deals so 20,000 for an older micro-usb powerbank is very, very reasonable. There are also various tools to test the capacity of these power banks, and they do have the true capacity. That’s why I asked the question, because it’s surely a cheap way to harvest high powered 18650’s or lithium cell pouches. I’m not sure what part of the world you’re living in or how much powerbanks cost in your country but well done you’ve made yourself look very, very stupid.
@apat279
@apat279 3 жыл бұрын
@@ponkuna I’m very well mannered and cultured, thank you very much. You are the one going around attacking random people on KZbin comments and trying to sound clever. If you read what i originally wrote, I mentioned flat ‘lithium cell pouches’ as well as 18650 cells. Flat lithium pouches can be harvested and re-used. Do some research. Powerbanks in the UK use both types of cells. Pay attention please. ‘CELLS’ are what we call batteries here, I shouldn’t have to be explaining this to you. You did not take me for an ‘innocent’. You were being very rude saying fake capacity power-banks are made for people like me, suggesting that I’m an idiot that’s going to fall for something like that. Wow, you put some 18650’s into an empty powerbank base, you are SO clever!! Lmfao

You really should have not used any cells under 1500mah. If they are 2Ah cells then they are about 50% SOH or less meaning they will be your problem cells in a big parallel pack. If they were 2.2, 2.4, or 2.6Ah then I would not take anything under 1.6, 1,7, and 1.8Ah. But if your access to cells is limited then I can understand using every cell over 1Ah. We have it easy here in the US, I can get disposable vapes all day long with 1400mah cells that still have 95% capacity

There is no way I would trust that thing in my house, or outside if the temp was above, like, 10 degrees. There is a reason they don't just do that. fans are not enough. It might not blow, but the cells will live a fraction of their lifespan under that kind of heat. peace
