Great racquetball! Love Jason’s passion and Jacks hustle! The rally starting at 3:20 was fun but that was at prob two separate “two bounce gets” by Maninno, I guess ref was doing make up call for taking away a point the previous rally. Besides that, I thought maninno earned this match, def super entertaining!

I don't get the no call at 9-9 in the 4th game. Jason's shot hit Jack who was directly in front of him. That's an obvious hinder. Hmm
@Fernandez218
@Fernandez218 9 ай бұрын
the point was replayed. what do you mean "obvious hinder"? Ref knew it was a hinder and replayed the point. do you mean avoidable hinder?
@larrylutsky181
@larrylutsky181 9 ай бұрын
@Fernandez218 Yes, it was clearly avoidable since he chose to position himself in front of the player returning the shot!
@Fernandez218
@Fernandez218 9 ай бұрын
@@larrylutsky181 they position themself that way all the time and it's no issue. they jump up to get out of the way of the common shot taken, 6 inches above the ground towards the front wall. it happens all the time. That's why it's not clearly an avoidable. Only pros and open can get away with that, to your point. In my 'A" division I would never stand in front of my opponents shot. Because all of our shots are not as good as the pros where they consistently hit very low balls. So in conclusion, I think we're both right, but it depends on which division we are talking about. The rule does state you must give you opponent the Cross-court and the down-the-line shot. But if you're hitting the ball low enough and the opponent jumps then your opponent does give you the shot and it's not an avoidable hinder. They have not taken away your offensive opportunity.
@larrylutsky181
@larrylutsky181 9 ай бұрын
@Fernandez218 your comment is correct. I see pros do it all the time. However, I still think they are limiting your shot to the front wall to one that is low and beneath their jump. If they get hit with the ball, I think think they should lose the point because they are taking away the higher shot! Good discussion 😃
@Fernandez218
@Fernandez218 9 ай бұрын
@@larrylutsky181 yeah I'm torn. I don't know what to think. I see refs not call it though so I think they're going by division. Like, refs will sometimes give a player a replay for one guy and not for the other based on them knowing the players retrieval abilities. It seems that the rules are open to a bit of interpretation. We might need lawyers in racquetball 😂😂

1:21:29 Mannino has bad sportsmanship.. The yelling and screaming the crowd loves. I'm not a particular fan of that type of behavior but it's inherent in any intense high-level sport -- even lower levels. But smashing the ball into your opponent who has given you DTL and CC shots, even while standing in the middle of the court, and then smashing the ball two feet high into your opponent means he's going for the man. The ball didn't even go towards the feet or shins. It hit him in the butt while he jumped. He went for the man. He did this more than once, too. And then he doesn't even pretend to fake an apology to Huczek to make sure he's ok. I suppose I can appreciate the genuine lack of remorse, but it shows his character on-court is not one I'm a fan of. It's an entertaining match for sure. And it seems maybe I'm a loner in my taste because the crowd is still behind Mannino for the whole match, despite this behavior.

You make good points here. Jason had the tendency of trying to get in his opponents head and rile up the crowd to double the pressure on his opponents. As accurate of a player he was, he may have truly accidently hit Huczek. Jason and Jack had were never friends on the court. In fact, the seemed to hate eachother....
@Fernandez218
@Fernandez218 9 ай бұрын
I don't think anyone likes, or liked, Huczek, on tour, due to his standoffish demeanor in-person but I've heard nothing but good things from people who go to his training camps. Mannino hating Huzcek. I wouldn't be surprised. Mannino is full of himself. He does commend Huzcek on good shots occasionally and Huczek doesn't. So maybe it balances out. There are plenty of people like Mannino, even in lower level divisions that I play, that think they are the best of the best -- delusional -- and flaunt this same type of aura around. They think all of their calls are 100% right and none of mine, or others, are. All of their skips are good shots and all of their two bounce gets are great gets. And mine are skips and my two-bounce gets are me not seeing things properly. The way I see it is racquetball is too difficult to spectate even when you're right in front of the ball. It shows when even refs, who are also pros, like Jason Thorner, get calls wrong many times. Add to the fact there was no appeal system then was ridiculous but there isn't funding in the sport I suppose and I can see why.@@angelthewolfman8210

My brother, you are preaching to the choir. I have played for over 20yrs. We run into problems here at our gym too. I have seen this while traveling around the world also. "Delusional" is great word for it. This is one of the great reason why we have cameras. With the camera, they can see their errors and yours easier. We use the camera as a tool to help us resolve issues and sometimes.... to amplify the fact that some players are "delusional". Everything they do is right. Nothing you do is. Call them out in a loving way. Quote the Rules and stick to your guns.

Let me get back on the soap box here. I have been playing racquetball world wide and I have seen EGO destroy this sport. Narcissist, EGO Maniacs and Delusional players have been running this sport to the ground for more than 20 years now. We should strong consider stepping up. Being more firm on our calls and if it comes down to it, don't play with them anymore. We need more folks that love to play "fairly" and in a gentlemen like fashion.

I dunno about anyone else, but the 100% junk serves 100% of the time was mildly infuriating. I was steeped in racquetball at this time, thought I knew all the guys on the pro tour. Even the lesser known guys like Inoue. Never heard of either of these guys. Did they know how to drive serve?
@wolfmanracquetball
@wolfmanracquetball Жыл бұрын
Good one. From what I remember, they only were allowed 1 serve back in those days. This forced folks to make every server count, even if you had to lab/junk lob to get that ball across the line. lol Over here at Fort Hood, we were playing and using the 1 serve rule. If I was not confident in my drive serve, I would lab the shit out of it. lol.

Amateur frisson at its best. No wonder that racketball never managed to become a "real" professional circuit beyond limited niches... if this is a US semi final of racket ball... none of these "excited" amateurs (because with all of these no "matter what" kind of shots, it's what it is at its possible best), would ever survive a rally or even would manage to score a point at any tournament of the squash circuit... (this semi final it's absolutely comic as the pure hazard shots and poor tactics are enough to make the whole exaggerative show off. Which in the end is what defines amateurism)
