My best friend fulfilled a lifelong dream for me a few months ago. He and his wife took me to a Billy Joel concert at Cleveland stadium (Jacobs Field). Not an empty seat in the place. I think it depends on your definition of "underrated". His face my not be plastered all over Pepsi cans, but it really doesn't need to be. The man will forever impact rock & roll music until it no longer exists.

Historically, Billy Joel was one of the most famous and appreciated rock stars of his generation (mostly the 1970s to the 1990s). It is sad that newer generations of music lovers will never have to opportunity to revel in every new song as it is released. He was very much appreciated.

Although i barley listen to Joel and now i listen to bands like CCR, ELO, and Led Zeppelin, i still love most his songs and will always know that he was what pushed me into the classic rock genre of music

STOP IT!!!! That was seriously one of my favorites of yours!! I never noticed your range, but you went really low by the bass a few times. I literally have a comment on so many songs I can't fit it all in this post. And you had to do each part perfectly... That must have taken the longest time ;)

It was quite time consuming, but I love how it turned out :) ...as for the Bass part, you're right I don't normally go that low, but I figured out something kinda cool...if I record the bass part in the morning I can get a few half steps lower than normal! So that was a recent discovery I'll most likely continue using ...thanks for your feedback!

The cool thing is that Billy Joel has also done this on his albums, i.e., harmonize with himself. (For example, he did this on the original track of "The Longest Time" and other songs.) So, this is very apropos. 😊 And another person commented about doing Frankie Valli songs, which is the kind of music Billy Joel was emulating on the album An Innocent Man. 😎

This just popped up on my recommendations after watching a few more recent videos from Jared. I don't know how I've never encountered this before. Billy Joel is one of my all-time favorite artists and I was curious what songs he would do. I would have been shocked/disappointed if he hadn't done "The Longest Time". I was glad to see him include others from An Innocent Man since that was Biily's tribute to '50s and '60s rock, which lends itself well to a capella, even if not done originally in that style. I was pleasantly surprised at how well tracks like "Big Shot" and "You May Be Right" worked. 👍🎵🎶🎼😎
