Ultimate Camper solo pack up with rope cam locks assist - part I

The quickest and safest way to #PackUp the #UltimateCamper, especially when #TtravelingSolo.
Place entry door clamps at 400mm from centre hoop. Similarly, the nose cone clamps are at 300mm from the centre hoop.
Also place the clamp tightening knob and carabiner clip facing away from the canvas. So they don’t jam up against the internal stainless cables.
And spring lock cam on clamp so that rope once pulled whilst standing on the steps runs through the locking cam.

Gday mate, I have just bought a 2005 Ultimate and the tips with the cam locks is a great idea. Plus folding up the corners with the awning velcro straps is a top idea. Thanks mate.

I appreciate seeing an honest packing of a camper. Gives you an idea of what's involved. I'd hate to have to setup or pack up in the rain. Thanks for sharing

You soon learn to pack up very quickly :). But the pros of this camper far outweigh this single hurdle.

You’re welcome, and let us know how you go. One tip... the tarp clamps need to be super tight, with the knob facing outwards so it doesn’t catch on the cable stay pressing against the canvas. Oh and orientate the cam lock on the carabiner/tarp clamp so whilst tensioning the rope it exits from the top of the cam lock so it’s always being held by the cam as you close the lid. I like the idea and it looks very tidy on the older style canvas. I wonder how it would work on a 360 with sooooo much more canvas. I will give it a crack and try but the extra canvas can prove to be a bit awkward on pack down if it hasn't been 'positioned' just right before lid closure.

Shane the most effective clips are the screw on tarp clamps. Also available from Bunnings.

Loved the instructions, thanks. I did notice the extra jerrycan set up on the left hand side near the steps and subsequent repositioning of the registration plate on a bracket. How was this modification achieved? Cheers

Tim, the number plate was moved to comply with new ADRs. If you check my channel you will see that I designed (& sell) a fold down tyre table, upon which the plate and light are now attached to.

Sorry Tim, I just had another read of your question and I should’ve mentioned that I imported this low profile jerry can holder. It’s fixed with 4 stainless screws through the wall & sealed of course. I may import a few more if I get enough demand. Cheers

Nice one, biggest issue we have is stopping the "splashback" from getting pinched

Nathan, we found it an ongoing issue as well before I sorted it. Just make sure when you fold the flaps in at 45 degree, they’re flat against the splashback. And the kitchen end flap is folded in between the centre hoop and the splashback. Oh.. you might like to subscribe to be notified of Part 2
