0:42 I hate that spike celebration... he ruins the disc by taco'ing it 😥
@narmelli5 ай бұрын
Exactly my thought. Spiking is just so unnecessary. There are sobmany other ways to celebrate a catch without ruining a disc.

20:33 is pretty incredible, to have that focus on the second chance. Also Bennet’s scoober was insane.

6:45 any game of actual ultimate I've ever seen, that's a foul call and only an audacious offensive player would contest.

Love the AUDL but I do wish they would enforce the traveling call like they do in (college) basketball. Great highlights but way too many non calls on the travels. I hope the league realizes that NOT calling traveling cheapens the sport, and also adds another layer of intrigue and difficulty, giving the players actually MORE opportunities to make special plays BECAUSE of the difficulty of only getting two or max three (the pivot foot) steps to coordinate the next throw. For right now, that's the one thing that bugs me about the league. Please. Call the traveling. If not in time for this year's playoffs, then make sure to make the changes in the off-season... Also, I think you should have a longer season with the weather just now warming up and also consider doing some off-season tournaments against international teams like in soccer to keep engagement and interest up year round. I would love to see the Oakland Spiders in some other competitions and it would help build up both participating brands and leagues.... One last thing is the Field Markings were really poor in a lot of the games making it hard to tell what's out of bounds... Tighten up these areas and I believe it will help out the overall product... Go AUDL!!! 💪🔘

6:43 Why are we glorifying a pushing foul as a best play? This is not a good look, AUDL. Makes the referees look bad for not calling it; makes the players look bad for poor spirit; makes the AUDL look bad for glorifying a foul as a "best play". Unless this is legal in the AUDL? It certainly isn't legal by USAU rules. If you were too busy watching the disc to notice, watch Babbit shoulder Clutton who had position and use that big body to just kind of move Clutton several feet to get into position for the disc. Clutton is no small obstacle to move. It was not lost on the announcer: "Babbit...he's trying to carve out space!" Clearly NOT incidental. Joel was a total professional; just walked off without complaining. But he must have been steaming. And then Babbit yelling and pumping his fists like a gorilla because he caught a pass made possible by pushing another player out of the way. CRINGE. 🤮 We miss a call from time to time. That happens. I know some of the referees here and have a lot of respect for them. But this is a very odd choice for inclusion in the 2023 best plays. This is not the NBA. Let's not glorify it when the stars get away with stuff.

Buzzer beaters are not exciting. Change the format to keep possession at the end of the 1st and 3rd quarter so we only have 2 buzzer beaters per game.

I like it. I think it’s exciting and also adds more of a challenge for the players
@dryzalizer Жыл бұрын
I think buzzer beaters CAN be exciting, but it's not that exciting or safe to huck into a jostling sea of bodies waiting in the end zone like playing a game of 500. I'm sure the AUDL wanted to set itself apart from club play and also keep game length fairly consistent, but I don't care for most of the dangerous buzzer beater scenarios that currently occur. Keep possession after the 1st and 3rd quarters if you need to run ads between quarters, otherwise just play halves. At the end of the first half, just finish the point normally once the timer hits zero (you might call this Stoppage Time or whatever you like). At the end of the second half, if the leading team is holding the disc when the clock expires, the game is over. If the trailing team has possession when the clock expires and is down by 2 or more, the game is over. If the game is tied at the end of the 4th quarter, just continue to play out the point normally to its conclusion to determine the winner (Universe). If the trailing team is down by 1 and has possession of the disc when the clock expires, continue playing the point until they score or turn over the disc (you could call this Sudden Death Overtime). If they turn over the disc, the game is over. If they score and tie the game, next point wins (Universe Point or whatever you want to call it). This system puts the impetus on teams to execute clean scores, stuff-and-scores, and defensive stands in crunch time. Seems much better than putting up a hospital huck to me, and there's potential for big-time late-game excitement. Just my two cents from an old washed-up player who watches more than plays now. Despite the somewhat long explanation, I think the system would be fairly intuitive to players. I also don't claim to be well-informed about the AUDL, just figured I'd put this idea out there where almost no one will read it!

7:44 Totally disagree. How can you NOT think this is exciting? I'm actually not a huge fan of most of the differences between AUDL and club ultimate, but buzzer beaters are awesome. Allowing intentional macks is an improvement.

AUDL riding on the poor spirit of the league's leading team or members to increase viewership. Reminds me of this one political party...
@ShadowHawk-pw6fe Жыл бұрын
Yes, it’s poor spirit, but it’s also nice to have this sport have a villain, someone we can hope gets beat by and underdog etc. And while it sucks that the lack of spirit is being milked for views, it is only adding to the story and will make someone beating NY that much more satisfying
@ShadowHawk-pw6fe Жыл бұрын
Also I get your point, but let’s not bring politics into this.
@Rickywwx Жыл бұрын
@@ShadowHawk-pw6fe Exactly. "It is only adding to the story." That's the problem. Ultimate is about spirit of the game and competition, not about a dramatization of good guys and bad guys. it's nice to have a villian if you're fllming a sports flick. AUDL should make a movie if that's what we're after.

It's not that deep. Let them compete and talk some shit. It makes things way more exciting for casual viewers which will grow the sport
