@@OhoodBailey Great question. It really comes down to what type accommodations you feel like someone in your party needs. DAS policies have recently updated at the parks, so that pre-visit phone call with the Disney Guest Services team is super important to see if a DAS pass will be granted.

She made it pretty clear for my brain to wrap most of my head around it but I agree, they've made it so ridiculously complicated to just go to the park lol. I understand this stuff is optional but I miss the old days of just going in and getting physical fast passes at each attraction.

I have not been to Disneyland for about 10 years, was super excited to plan a trip next year.. but after watching a lot of Disney videos I’m feeling pretty disheartened about the whole thing. What happened to just buy your ticket and go enjoy the day? Now it’s buy your ticket, reserve your entry time, reserve your ride time, reserve your meal times, everything scheduled down to the minute is not my idea of an enjoyable vacay. ☹️

You aren’t alone. There are a lot of moving pieces to visiting the Disney Parks now. You can still do minimum planning (park reservations are leaving for dated tickets at WDW in 2024) and still enjoy your day. But, expect longer lines and wait times without using some of the new systems. Although potentially inconvenient, the new reservation systems are intended to help alleviate waiting in the crowds. But, it isn’t for everyone.

Thank you / your video was the first I have found that gave step by step and showed it on the phone - I am just worried about booking the genie plus ride and the lightening lane ride and trying to get a que 🙈

Try this suggested order for best results. Purchase genie+ before 7am, but book/purchase your Individual lightening lane at 7am, then select your genie lightening lane. Try for a virtual queue after that. Make sure you are getting the most from the tools you are paying for, then if you are fortunate enough to get a VQ, consider yourself lucky!

Did you orient this entire video to only people staying at a Disney resort. Or do these times and instructions apply to everyone - including people staying outside of Disney hotels?

Genie+ instructions are the same for on-site or off-site resorts. However, Individual Lightning Lanes cannot be made by off-site resorts guests until they enter the parks. Only WDW resort guest will be able to make those selections at 7am.

After watching videos about this system and what it means for guests who cannot pay more than the admission ticket (way longer lines than before with so much ride space given to queue hoppers) I think I have changed my mind on going to Disney. Is this a fair reaction?

Awful service. Don’t waste your money until they show live wait times for lightning lane. My last two trips it ended up being longer than the standby lanes.

Yes. It can be purchased at midnight, but you will be unable to purchase/book INDIVIDUAL Lightning Lanes until 7am (if on resort property), and book those Genie+ Lightning Lanes at 7am as well.

Why not select more than 3 options when doing the My Day planning?

When selecting your first three, it will place them at the top of your tip board for easy access when booking your first Lightning lanes at 7am. As the day goes on, you can modify those selections to see additional rides. Ultimately, it just it makes it easier to find your top priority rides for that first initial LL schedule.

If you just want to have yourself a the primary account holder, with spouse and dependents under your account, yes. Just use your account log in across all devices to see the same account you are utilizing. Sharing friends and family normally comes into play when you have larger groups like aunts and uncles joining the party.

Flying over from Australia next year for the first time. I noticed when you mentioned scanning in it was with one of those bracelets, do you have to organise those on your first day at the parks if you buy genie+?

Purchasing MagicBand is something you can do ahead of time through the My Disney Experience account that you have made your package/ticket purchases through. This way everything is connected through your one Disney account.

Disney Resort guest are able to book both their Genie+ and Individual Lightning at 7am. Guest staying a a hotel off site, won't be able to book their Individual lightning lanes until they are at the park.

We haven’t really seen a trend for that yet. But in the seasons where Magic Kingdom holds the Halloween and Christmas parties, crowds are actually lighter during normal hours on the days of the events.

Unfortunately not for your Genie+ selection. However the best strategy would be to make it at 7, but go in and modify to a later available time if you find that you won’t be present for the window you originally selected.

Genie+ is the tool you purchase. Lightening Lane is the thing you schedule within the tool to skip the standard line. Not all rides utilize the Genie+ tool and require a purchase of a separate individual lightening lane.

Minors should be listed on their parent/guardians profile within the family and friends. This helps with attributing lodging, park tickets, dining reservations, and things like virtual queues and genie+. Those children 2 and under should still be listed in family/friends even if they do not have to purchase a ticket.

in rare occasions, yes. It’s the 2 hour rule. If you have booked, not checked into your ride, AND 2 hours have passed since that booking, you are now free to book another. Also, on your tip board you now have a new feature that tells you when your next time slot is available to book your next genie+ Lightening Lane.
