Skiing is by far one of the most thrilling adventure sports I have ever tried and it can be quite addictive once you start to get the hang of it; but it can also be expensive. Thankfully there are government affiliated institutes in India that offer Basic Skiing Courses for as cheap as ₹10,000 in which they give you basic skiing training for 14 days that too including food and accommodation. Any from decathlon will do. There are a lot of options there. There is no such thing as a waterproof shoe at least i have not heard of any. All the shoes available at Decathlon are water repellent. But don’t worry they are more than enough for a snow trip.

For next year it will open in 1st week November 2023. But start calling them around 20th October to be on the safe side.

Hi Hemanshi, What do you suggest on the ski goggle side? I mean, the price is quite similar to that of good polarised sunglasses. Will it be a good investment? PS: I am leaving for Kargil (IISM-10 Feb Batch), so I will have to buy it urgently since it takes a bit of time to deliver in Himachal Pradesh. Thanks in advance

Hi, so as a beginner you don’t need a skiing goggle. Just sunglasses are enough. They make more sense to buy because you can use them on treks as well as for general purposes. Even while skiing if you take breaks you can keep wearing sunglasses. But skiing goggles are not that comfortable to wear for the time you are not skiing. Even if you want to have tea or something you would want to take it off. See if you are sure that you want to continue skiing further till an advance level then you can buy skiing goggles as a long term investment. But if you are just exploring the sport for fun stick to regular sunglasses. Also, if you do end up buying goggles, I would recommend getting an anti fog marker as well. You get it at Decathlon.

By next year you mean 2024 jan right ? Forms are supposed to open 15th nov or end of nov. Call on their number to get specific date. I am approaching them as well over a call.

Well very unfortunate for you that you got COVID positive while pursuing this course and were isolated with other positive learners and Alas were not allowed to participate in the practical exam , finally COVID positive trainees were given honorary positions not awarded positions by IISM Gulmarg.... So I expect advocacy of truth in your next vedios and best of luck ,keep it up !
