Wonderful even though it's raining. The lights are everywhere. I had the pleasure of Christmas and New Year in an apartment inthe Old Town last year. A bit different this year as I'm in Machico but again there are Christmas themes and lights everywhere. Cheers Alex

It was pretty damp! But yes, we'll be bracing the weather for the NY fireworks, market night and a bit more in between. It’s been warm and sunny today, so we’re enjoying that! Hope you have a Happy Christmas BIAF - thanks so much for your continued support 👍

I hope your brand new boots didn't suffer any major damage or was it just your pride that was hurt?! It actually made a refreshing change seeing Funchal in the rain as I've never seen or experienced it, only in Machico / Santo António da Serra did I once. I never knew that fact about the Beatles boat, so I look forward to that video of yours. I see our mutual amigo Joe has jumped on the Funchal Christmas walking tour trend? I'm sure I'll check that out later & compare notes with yours! I can't believe you've been travelling now for, was it 33 years you said? You both seem so young! Hey Rue, I love the fact that you never miss anything in these videos :) I was fully expecting to take a tumble in the same side street, and would have kept it in the video, but these things never happen when you’re prepared for them. When it rains in Funchal it can really pelt down, but then I’m sure it was the same in Machico. Yeah, the Beatles boat had quite a history - and you can still see it on Google street view if you wind back to the earliest capture date! That’ll be up soon. Yes I watched Joe’s video - there’s a definite trend going on! Yes we’ve been travelling a long time, but then we did when we were six…(not.) Couldn’t tell you how much the soup was, unless Yvonne caught it on her video, but it was certainly popular. Take care amigo, hope you have a grand old Christmas. Boas Festas…
