I have both the Tri Color Bird and the White....I have had mine for many years....They typically bloom when they are root bound....which is their favorite way to live.....I have only divided my TriColor Bird....and only once because it took a few years for the root system to crowd the pot again...and when that finally happened it started blooming again.....so I let mine stay in their pots as is....which are huge pretty plastic pots....and I just top off their soil each spring with fresh, and let them be....and they continue to bloom on and off throughout the year.....✌️💜💋

Beautiful Bird! My son and his partner just moved to Denver a couple weeks back and have a passion for plants. I'll tell them about your channel! My son has been involved with landscape horticulture since he was in high school (He's now 32). Who knows maybe y'all will bond over plants and become friends, lol 💛

Three spectacular flowers? That’s a solid trio! Did they have a secret garden party while you weren’t looking?

You are talking about at least three different plants, the one at Denver Botanical is a traveler's palm, Ravenala madagascariensis, its a very large plant, friends of mine in S Florida have them and they rise well above the tree line. Strelitzia reginae is the orange bird, it grows to about 6' maximum. There is a yellow cultivar named after Nelson Mandela. Yours is most likely the white bird, S. nicolai, which is also commonly sold, reaches 20-30'. There is a S. alba that is about 1/2 the size of S. nicolai, but I'm fairly sure yours is S. nicolai. They are from various parts of Africa, and in a sweeping over generalization plants from Africa are more adapted to varying weather conditions as opposed to something from a S American cloud forest where the water from the clouds and temps are a constant.
