Misleading food tour guide. She let down the people of Mumbai and Maharashtra by taking a foreign guest on a Kerala , Uttar Pradesh and not so important not so traditional not so authentic non Maharashtra and non traditional Mumbai food tour. Future foreign tourists avoid this food tour guide. Sorry to say she may have good knowledge but she has disappointed and disgraced the original people of Maharashtra and Mumbai and tomtommed non authentic Maharashtrian food. In the past tour guides shoots she has been atleast much more sensible. Feel sorry for Jessica and Alfonso and Alfonso, they enjoyed so we are very happy. But they came all the way to Mumbai and Maharashtra from USA, and they were denied the taste of local authentic Maharashtrian food by this tour guide. Such a shame on her.

Places to eat at in Mumbai: *1. Elco Pani puri - (area - Bandra west in Mumbai)* - One of the best Pani puris in town. Very clean & hygienic. They use bottled mineral water to make these. So very safe to eat Pani Puris at this place. *2. Sardar Pav Bhaaji - (area - Tardeo in Mumbai)* - The best and the most buttery Paav Bhaaji on Planet Earth. *3. Bade Miyan - Late night place - is open till 3 am or so (area - near Taj hotel & the Gate way of India in Mumbai)* A late night place, patrons eat in their cars, but has a seating area as well. Famous for their wraps, Tikkas, Tandooris & barbecued stuff. *4. Leopold Cafe (area - Colaba causeway in Mumbai)* - Nice beer, barbecues, nice desserts. *5. Pancham Puriwala - (area - fort in Mumbai)* - 5 types of puris(bread), savory dishes & desserts. *6. Persian Darbar - (area - Bandra west in Mumbai)* Famous for their Raan Biryani. Delicious Mughlai cuisine. You'll love it. *7. Mahesh Lunch home - (area - Juhu Tara road in Mumbai)* Heaven for Sea food lovers. Very clean & hygienic and you can get the most iconic sea food dishes here. *8. Mini Punjab's Lake side - (area Powai in Mumbai)* Need to call and book a thaali(platter) in advance. Famous for its Dara Singh Thaali - available in both veg & non-veg versions. A must try. *9. Britannia & co. restaurant - (area - Ballard estate, Fort in Mumbai)* Famous for its Irani / Parsi cuisine. Awesome Desserts & Sodas. *10. Anand Stall - (Vile Parle west in Mumbai)* A fast food joint famous for its awesome Vada Paav, Sandwiches & Dosas. *11. Mohammed Ali road - (Area - CST - 6 pm onwards till late night)* The whole street is filled with street vendors who sell various non-vegetarian stuff and some vegetarian too. Plus, there are some really nice restaurants on the same street. Try the famous dessert that you get only on this street in a sweet shop. The dessert is called Aflatoon.

While your host is very kind, she is short on some of the facts. Prone to hyperbole and misinterpretation. Mutton Keema is GOAT meat, not lamb meat. Just an example. Do not mean to denigrate anyone, but just one of many observations I have had while watching all your journey in India. Starting from Delhi. I love your attitude and your little child. He is so cute and already a culinary expert, as I can see it I am originally from Mumbai, so I know a bit. Just FYI, I am based out of Charlotte, NC, USA. Have fun.

In a few places of India, meat is either Lamb or Goat. During my visit to Himachal Pradesh when I ordered meat rice and it was lamb meat so I have to confirm before order whether it is Lamb or Goat meat.

The other gentlemen with you, seems like a nice guy but he sticks out like a sore thumb dressed like a typical European tourist. If you want to blend in and not be a target for pickpocketers, and generally thieves, you should dress a little more like locals if possible, and avoid hats and sunglasses like that.

Not the Iranian that you see today. These people are the original Zoroastrian community from Iran who took refuge in India after the islamic brutal invasion. Rest of them who didn't flee, got killed or converted. This particular bakery restaurant is more than 150 years old now. The Railway station building was built as a residential palace for the british invaders queen. Then later it was transformed into a railway station. All these stone architecture in the Fort were built by Bharatiya (Indian) artisans like she said. All the art was done in the nearby place which is today known as JJ School of arts. One of the world's best art colleges for artists (where I studied as well).

The food guide is taking you to the dirtiest and cheap places which can be unhygienic in my opinion. Don't know how much you paid her. There are a hundred places in Mumbai which are clean and hygienic and still serve all the street foods you have eaten (Haldirams, Om snacks, Bombay Sweet Shop etc. I hope you remain healthy after eating at these dirty street shops. Don't believe 'open since 1940'e etc..-I don't believe it. These low profile street places may work for we Indians who are accustomed to this, but not for foreigners.

Jessica... I would love to contact Pooja for my Mumbai visit. This is the first girl who took you all around and made sure you eat each and everything...not giving you too much to eat But she made a point...you taste everything. I loved Pooja's passion for her work. I loved Pooja's language. She's a small girl... learning. Pooja...tte "red powder" which is given with Vada Pav is dry coconut, peanuts and garlic chutney. That adds more flavours to the Vada pav. Alfonso and Jessica... I appreciate your interest, excitement. God Bless Your Family...

The best place to have Pav bhaaji is at Sardar Paav Bhaji - which is located at Tardeo, Bombay central, in Mumbai. They have 2 varieties, the Normal Amul Butter Pav Bhaaji and the second one I think is the Black Pav bhaaji. Just check out the pavs(bread) they serve there. They are completely different and Real Authentic pavs. Those pavs are aunthentic Portugese pavs that the Portugese introduced in Goa & Mumbai. They are much softer, less dense, much more fluffy and go extremely well with Amul Butter. Also, the bhaaji is a typical Maharashtrian vegetable slurry preparation with typical Maharashtrian Garam Masala spices.

This sardar drowns his bhaji in pool of butter you cannot taste the vegetables only stupid masala and busload of butter. Better visit canon pavbhaji for authentic pav bhaji than trying the bastardised version of it at sardar . Sardar pav bhaji is over hyped , nothing special just fat and pav.

@@jayk6087 - YOU clearly don't know the ABC of Pav bhaaji. Sardar Pav bhaaji was among the first few who invented & started the dish. The Pav bhaaji was invented as a result of the American Civil war from 1861 - 1865, a result of which the British had to get cloth weaved in India itself due to shortage of supplies from America. A few mills had to be operated in 3 shifts, day & night and to provide nutrition, carbs etc. to the labourers(mill workers) left over veggies were mashed up together and fed to the workers with Pav. To make it more palatable butter was used to add to the flavor and the appeal of the dish. The masalas / spices used are specific to the taste of the mill workers who hailed from specific areas of rural Maharashtra. So yes, the Butter, the Pav & the Ghati Masala are iconic necessities in order to make authentic pav bhaji. YOU won't understand that. YOU are just an Anpadh, Jaahil & Gavaar ... LOL !
