Re dr on resistances: the effective health benefits are linear. The more resistance you have, the more each new % point is worth. If you have 50% reduction, +1% more means you require 2% less healing to sustain the same damage. The diminishing return on resistance gains, is to push back on this escalating value, getting it closer to a linear progression of benefit. So even if you have high resistances, Collosus may still be the right next item, as the effective health gain is effectively linear.

@@4000valentin yeah i completely agree, was just trying to get across the point that people think anything over 50% is bad, when in fact the higher you go the more value each % point has. will be doing a video on how to maximise damage and defenses where i will cover this more.

The resistances and lifesteal are diminishing based on the number of sources not past 50%. So two 25% sources would be worse then one 50% source.

Err i don't understand this. So what does 2 25% items do then? Can you explain this more

@@cm16533 they’re just added up multiplicatively (i don’t know the exact math) so they total up to a little less than 50%, whereas a single item with 50% would just give you 50%.

@@cm16533 Multiple resistance items are applied one after another, so each resistance is applied to the damage not blocked by preceding resistances, not to the full amount of damage you originally took: A 50% resistance would reduce your incoming damage by 50% (100 -> 50). Two 25% resistances would reduce your incoming damage by 25%, and then reduce whatever is left over by another 25% (100 -> 75 -> 56.25).

Well easiest way I can explain it is showing numbers 100hp. 25% off that would be 75hp so say I add another 25% item that would be multiplied by your new 75hp instead of original 100hp that’s why stacking items get less and less over time. Because your new items get multiplied to a small number every time

Great video smeefu! One question I have is regarding weapon items. You discussed weapon damage vs fire rate. But what about ammo capacity? Is it fair to say 2 weapon damage items + fire rate + ammo is best combination?

I think the idea is that everything will have diminishing returns, so a well rounded kit is most likely optimal

1. Enter Sandbox Mode 2. F7 to pull up console and type hud_damagemeter true 3. If it says cheats are not enabled type sv_cheats true into the console and repeat step 2

@@TheKazuki1111 yeah for sure, doesn’t matter how low your fire rate is, if you haven’t bought any fire rate increase items yet, then your first buy will give you a flat boost to your dps, for example swift striker will give you 22% dps increase if it’s your first fire rate purchase (actually slightly more as the item gives some weapon damage too). kinetic dash is an item i like a lot on shotgun heroes, feels good to use to get in on people and have a fire rate buff!

@@smeefu You mentioned that resist has an off point at 50. That is not true, if you want to test this try to reach the same amount of armor resist that improved armor gives, but with smaller items.

@@smeefu Cool fact cooldown reduction also has diminishing returns, but range and duration do not.

Bc almost everything is scale not by flat is fine to stack like armor. Bc enemys gun damage also doesnt stack flat. So at the end u will still Tank 30% more with 30%armor
