You don't use the safety shower to put yourself out. You use the fire blanket. If one is not available you stop drop and roll. Water can worsen chemical fires.

Absolutely! That is why I posted it on KZbin for the world to use. Lab Safety is an extremely important topic, yet it is too often a dry and monotonous list of rules. There are fun ways to engage the audience and let them know why the rules exist. :) Please tell your friends too!

I think the most important rule is to keep the area uncluttered because I feel like the accident that would happen most often would be people tripping over items in the way or knocking them over.
@corinnekae17362 жыл бұрын
I am a laboratory analyst and I find this video hilarious (in a nice way). 😂 On a serious note, some important things that we have to remember also while working in a laboratory are to always be mindful of whatever we do (presence of mind) and avoiding multi-tasking of incompatible activities. And 5S while working is also very important. Clutter in work areas can actually lead to accidents. 98% of accidents are actually preventable. 🍵

You are correct, DJShadow! Plus Two Points! I always share that correct information with my students when discussing lab safety. For video purposes, I thought that the emergency shower would be more entertaining than the safety blanket. Also, I wouldn't want my friend filming the video to accidentally get hurt while trying to smother the fire. And, I didn't want to take the chance that he would 'accidentally' smother me in the process. :)
