The pipe test is flawed, I think. There is a ramp-up time for the blower motor, usually controlled by an ESC (Electronic Speed Controller). So, by hitting the trigger, the motor slowly ramps up in speed, and full blowing power isn't reached immediately. Instead of simply pressing button while in the tube, then allowing the ball to shoot out during the ramp-up time, and before the full power is reached - a gate in the pipe should be opened when the blower has already reached full speed.

@@skygreen5939 I have the 780cfm on the 60V, otherwise same blower as the 800. It is a monster and what I like about GW is they tend to be lighter than other competition. Most of the weight is the battery. I haven't broken either it or the 610 cfm predecessor I had so they seem 'good enough' on plastic thickness and my wrists appreciate the lightness.

A dimension on the runtime is whether the performance is consistent through the run time. I believe for example the Ryobi may have long run time but the performance dives early on and the curve deteriorates vs flat.

I had a Ryobi long ago and still have a Worx blower I don't like. I now have Makita, and it is the bomb. It is ultra-powerful and can be finely controlled for tight spaces. It is the easiest to use blower I've had. I use the Lawn Review trimmer line. If this is helpful info, I am 4'10" and over 70.

@@TheLawnReview Yes, I love the 18-volt LXT XBUO3Z. It's well balanced, has double the blowing strength of the Worx, and has four times the battery life. The batteries are easy easier to install and remove. You can gently blow things away from your flowers or crank up to full power and not have to keep your thumb or fingers holding anything-just direct it. I have no complaints about it.

I also have a makita 18v blower and think its great (we only have light leaf fall) the trigger with the infinitly variable style throttle lock and normal trigger is fantastic for really tidying the last few leaves that seem to end up stuck on a corner and are hard to get away from the wall.

A concern with Toro is that if you could not find even a battery on its own for sale I have some concerns for a year from now if you need parts to repair it. That thought makes me consider tool longevity which is something you could not test but could be a significant factor in the rankings. You could say this was a Brand New Out of the Box comparison which to be fair is also very valuable information. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the comparison, especially the bit of focus you put on low-speed control which is important to me as well. The available combo options didn't make life easy for you to compare costs since combos can offer ridiculously cheaper options for the battery and charger. For example, the EGO blower at a tool-only price of $233 plus a $349 6Ah battery still needs a $100 charger if you're not already in the EGO ecosystem (like me). But if you buy the combo kit which has the same blower plus a charger and 4Ah battery, the battery and charger costs just $40. You could buy two combo kits (2 blowers, 2 4Ah batteries, 2 chargers) for less than the tool-only plus one 6Ah battery. It's a similar story with the Ryobi - in the tool combo you can get a 6Ah battery and charger for $100 less than a standalone 6Ah battery. I didn't do any math with assigning different cost points but my guess is Ryobi would probably still be last and EGO might have tied or taken 3rd from Milwaukee.

Thanks for the comment! It was a tough choice to calculate it the way I did. You’re right. But I got a lot of feedback on my other videos to try and calculate it this way. If you’re just starting out on electric then you can save some money by buying the full bundle.

whats important about runtime, is theyre not working at the same speed. If the toro is much more powerful, it wont run as long but you just might accomplish more work in 10 minutes than another blower does in 15 minutes, but looking at the time per ah, it was pretty efficient as well as being very powerful.

Are you trying to find the maximum prices that nobody pays on the batteries? I dont understand the logic behind your 'total' chart. You can get a brand new ryobi blower battery and charger combo at huge savings regularly. Not to mention you should be pairing your brand of choice to compliment your existing mower, trimmer blower combo to have ample runtime on them. Ryobi is still the best bang for the buck.
@TheLawnReview
@TheLawnReview Ай бұрын
Yeah I completely agree. I did that with my mower video and everyone complained that I didn’t accurately capture the cost of having to buy a new battery. The bundle is the way to go, though.
@hodgo1981
@hodgo1981 Ай бұрын
I agree, the value score is not well done in this review, and severly affects the scoring of these devices. Most people buy a combo because there is a huge discount in doing so (like Toro price used), the only time to buy a skin only is if you already have a heap of batteries for that brand. So in all fairness you should have value for combo purchases unless combo is not available, then you add up the sum of parts. And in fact if you redo the results table without value (so making it a performance only review) it shows how EVEN this test is. The Ryobi and the Toro in Turbo score low, but all other 6 options have a score of 3.3 or 3.6) PS. TLR, i did like the review, I particularly think its relevant you discuss low speed blowing too. In fact my suggestion for another perammeter would be to get and anemometer (wind speed meter) and do a runtime test with their triggers set at a lower speed PPS your followers have great suggestions too

I had a Greenworks hedge trimmer and had planned on getting more tools in the lineup, but they switched from 40 volt to 80 volt with most of the newer tools. I sold the hedge trimmer and went 40v Ryobi. Ego had some more powerful tools but the prices and the fact that their convertible trimmer used a proprietary connection made me skip them.

Prices with the batteries is crazy for these. I bought an echo 770t backpack blower that would lay the hurt on all of these. Paid $550 new, get over an hour on a tank of gas, no batteries to run out, no heavy weight on your arm, etc. not sure why theres a draw to electric. Just seems like a waste to me unless you have a tiny yard.

Even still, for less than $100 more you get one of the top backpack blowers out there. I considered electric before buying the echo but on paper there was just no comparison for the performance vs dollar. Granted i have lots of trees and leaves, but taking the weight off your arm with a backpack style is a big one too. My brother has the ryobi and seems to like it...different strokes for different folks as they say.

Waste of time, and NOT typical of this content creator. His others are pretty good. The only one valid comparison here is the ability to control the speed, blowing leaves without blowing mulch, chasing a few leaves out of an area without them simply blowing up in the air. That starts at 9:00 and goes through 13:06. The logic of every other test and the scoring system is bonkers.

Interesting results for sure. Keeping up with the testing and scoring is hard. I have heard bad things about Greenworks. Mainly, their tools most likely won't last a year before they just stop working. I never had one, but I saw a video or a writeup a while back about it. Toro used to be a top rated company, but has fallen from grace so I don't know about it either.

Good grief. I will try to contain myself and address the ultimate 2 flaws here(though all test were flawed pretty badly). The best Ego by far is the 765CFM that's been out for 3 or 4 years at least. You're comparing this 670FFM EGO with a 900CFM Toro? The Ego 765CFM 200mph Kit(INCLUDES BATTERY AND CHARGER) has been $299 for about three flippin years! Even if you had 50 Ego batteries, you'd still buy the kit for about $250 less. I have used all these except the Toro and, the Ego and Milwaukee are the two best performing with the Ego actually being less expensive unless your are dumb and buy the blower and battery separate. And I won't even ask why you didn't include STHIL!

The tube test is flawed because all blowers use a different size tube and you’re using a ball that may fit better into certain tubes than others. The cost should be based on kitted price not skin plus battery, that one was just stupid. No mention of overall value vs what you get. The handling test was idiotic. I don’t know how many people are using their blower to guide a tennis ball around but I don’t think it’s many. An obstacle course would have been a better test for handling. I don’t think you put enough thought into these tests and the worst blower came out as number 1. Shoddy.
