You got it totally backward. The absolute value function is probably the most powerful: imagine turning everything into a positive. Now that's power!

What about piecewise functions?

They’re just graphs with multiple functions in them, they don’t count as separate functions.

I just want to say smt about the square root functionwe dont consider the negative root this is because the square root of x is the inverse of f(x)=x² which, however is NOT Bijective over ita entire domain. In particular it is surjective but not injective, so to avoid voiolting the definition of a function(2 outputs for 1 input) we consider the square root to be inverse of the function f(x)=x² where x is greater than or equal to 0, as it is bijective over that interval and therefore has an inverse. Now , thedomain of that inverse is equivalent to the range of the orginal function with the given domain restriction which is [0,♾) so thats the domain of f^-1(x)=sqrr(x) and similarly the range of the square root funcyipn will be equivalent to the domain of its inverse, but since we showed that x² is only bijective for all x greater than or equal to 0, or less than or equal to 0, and we restricted its domain to be from 0 to infinity thats why the range of the square root function will only be from 0 to infinity as well. And since the negative root produces negative outputs, which are outside of that range, we dont consider it when talking about the square root function because the outputs will be out of the function's range.😊

Did you know that if you take the graph of the non-principle square root of x, you get a sideways parabola?
