if you have driven off road with it how was the stability? wondering if it would rock and twist/torque less than the typical platform ones do on rougher surfaces (those bounce the bike a lot on rocky dirt roads and I worry about the twisting forces off road...perfectly fine on regular surfaces though). just wondering how this might compare...

Do you have airbags for your rear suspension? I also have a 4runner
@majorleaguemotoring3 жыл бұрын
No but only because I used to have them in my Pathfinder and they were unreliable, deflated or popped at bad times. Reliable ones would be a nice addition.

I have a 5th gen. No bags or upgraded springs. No issues even with a 430lb KLR.

How did you get a 5/8 hitch pin to fit? Because of the threads, the largest that will fit for me is a 1/2 hitch pin.
@majorleaguemotoring Жыл бұрын
I drilled the hole out to fit. My original threaded pin’s threads were damaged just from road vibrations and just enough that when it came time to load the bike after a race I couldn’t get the pin to start in at all. Luckily I had my thread file and was able to repair and secure the bike. But ever since that I decided a hitch pin was the best way.

Hey great carrier, is there any chance you could kindly share the specs with me? As I would like to build one for myself (unfortunately in Uruguay we don’t have that)

Thanks for the video. Been looking at these. I searched for other brands and found an off brand on eBay fo $325. Might give that one a shot to save some money.

Will080893 yah post a comment here once you’ve used it. Such a simple design I’d think it’d be hard to mess up a copy.

I’ve had mine for 8 years now. It’s worth just spending the cash.

I see you're wearing all ten of your steel toes. Very wise to protect against the 60 pound metal object in your hands 😅

Based on your experience with this hauler, would you have any reservations about using it for a long trip (1000 miles) at highway speeds (75mph+) on the back of a minivan???
@majorleaguemotoring5 жыл бұрын
I'd have no reservations at all. I do however double check all the bolts are tight whenever I stop for gas.

I have had mine for over 10 years now, and have done many long trips with it. Couple of things I disagree with on this video. I tried just a “pin” in my tow hitch, I experienced a lot of rocking back-and-forth. I think the manufacturer made that thread for a reason. I also don’t agree with shaving the nut off of the safety pin which is also threaded. If you will notice it sucks the two sides in against the main bar when it’s tightened, that adds to the strength of the overall package. If you just put a pin through those flat pieces of metal are going to flex and overtime will break just like any other metal that gets bent back-and-forth 1 million times.. Again these guys are engineers who put this together, and I wouldn’t go altering any of it.

@@Oldguynotbald Depends on who made your receiver. My 4runner has a very tight receiver. I never use the anti-shake things. They won't even fit anyways.

Are you able to open your trunk with the bike on the carrier and all the way lowered? Considering this for my sequoia but I want to open the trunk with the bike on
@majorleaguemotoring4 жыл бұрын
I can open the back with the hauler lowered yes, but if it’s up but not bolted in yet I can kinda angle the bike and turn the wheel to the left and open the back. Not sure about the Sequoia, depends how tight the tow hitch is under there and the slope of the rear door I guess 🤔 Nice thing about the 4Runner is I can roll down the rear window for accessing cargo.

@@majorleaguemotoring Thanks for the reply. Ended up buying one from my buddy and opening the rear window was my solution as well. Thinking about getting a hitch extender but Im not sure how it will affect the tongue weight capacity
