This is one of the best 3D printing projects I've seen in a long time. Everything about it screams EXCELLENCE. The design is easy to print and use, the jig makes foolproof as all products should be, and the video is nicely shot and edited. The whole package (design, jig, instructions, video) can only be the result of an exceptional, empathetic mind. I don't know what your day job is, but I highly recommend considering a career in product design. People like you contribute to making our world a better place.

Neat solution to a definitive problem. Really wish Bambu would partner with Diamondback for non-stick high-performance nozzles. 99% of my failures or features being messed up on my Bambu is because of filament sticking to the steel after a movement or some strange behavior regarding the filament getting caught on the nozzle.
@TheOfficialOriginalChad
@TheOfficialOriginalChad 2 ай бұрын
It wouldn’t be a partnership, but rather license from. Bambu has nothing to contribute to Diamondback’s extremely specific and proprietary manufacturing process. Considering volcano Diamondback nozzles are $100, they would cost a fortune after running through Bambu. To be frank, filament sticking to the nozzle shouldn’t be causing you much trouble at all. Consider that its more of an indication that you’re over-cooling

Applying a tiny bit of PTFE oil (at room temperature!!!) with a q-tip on the nozzle works wonders. It's the same as that expensive plastic repellent fluid from slice engineering for nozzles.

@TrueRewire - Lookup BIQU Panda Revo Hotend. They partnered with E3D to make a rapid nozzle swap which allows E3D Revo hotends.

Silcone tube has a temp tolerance of 200 C, so it will wear over time/melt. But with the tube length you get off bambu (2m), you can easily replace the tubing, after all, bambu's nozzle wiper is a consumable already. I did something similar with a silicone sleeve around a brass brush. Also works great!

I have the silicone tube since the beginning and it's still like new. Tried to melt the silicone tube with a soldering iron from Weller nothing happened.

I replaced the ptfe tube of the original wiper with some 6x4x2 silicon o-rings. Didn’t had any poop on the build plate for months now after doing it.

Any concerns about the amount of resistance vs the print head causing damage when swiping the tubing?
@DanielSchweinert
@DanielSchweinert 2 күн бұрын
What resistance? Its a silicone tube it has way less resistance than the original wiper because its really flexible. I saw other wipers online using steel brushes and PTFE brushes those could bend your hotend.

Would a brass bristle work even better?
@DanielSchweinert
@DanielSchweinert Күн бұрын
I think there is also a model on makerworld which is using a cheap brass bristle from dremel. Never bothered with it since I made my silicone wiper and it's working for me and others perfectly well. Im not sure but I think that "maybe" molten filament could fill up the brass bristle and stay stuck overtime. Silicone is repelling it - thats my only concern or maybe Im wrong.

Awesome design. Any data that shows it works better than the stock Bambu wiper?

Thank you! Just read the comments on makerworld ;-) also I use it in my own printfarm. The original wiper didn't worked well for my PETG prints, therefore I had to do something and I came up with this solution.

Get a yellow Olfa cutter knife and lose the gloves. PETG is quite sticky and during one print it made an blob on the nozzle. Will this help?
@DanielSchweinert
@DanielSchweinert 2 ай бұрын
Thank you but I love those gloves when filming 😄 I worked outside and my hands look fairly worn. Yes it helped tremendously with PETG but you also have to dry it before printing no matter what, to get perfect results. Also applying a tiny bit of PTFE oil (at room temperature!!!) with a q-tip on the nozzle works wonders. It's the same as that expensive plastic repellent fluid from slice engineering for nozzles.
