I made my own finance tracker in the beginning of year and gosh having a notion template for such things is so better than having a separate app to track them all

For sure! We definitely agree that Notion can be a powerful tool to track finances. Let us know if you need any help

I noticed that if you transfer money to a credit card, it does not alter the "Ending Balance" of that month because its not considered an expense. Paying a credit card is essentially an expense though.
@theorganizednotebook2 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! We decided to treat credit cards as another form of account as the expenses you pay with a credit card get recorded on the credit card and the expense for paying the credit card bill gets recorded through an account transfer between your bank and credit card! If we treat it as an expense for the account we still need a way to add back the amount owed on the credit card for the calculations to work. We hope this makes it clearer, feel free to contact us via email organizednotebook.info@gmail.com if you have any further questions about the template or need any help with it!

Really nice tutorial. I like how everything interwines with each other! Really nice utilisation of functions to improve visual displays - haven't seen another channel use functions the unique way which you do. I couldn't figure out how Expenses Due was calculated in the Monthly Tracker tab - curious how you went about doing that. You have a subscriber, I'll definitely be checking out a few more of your templates!

I purchased this template and I just tried my first transfer and it shows it minus off the "from" account" but it added it to my credit card account as a charge not as a bill payment meaning the balance of that cc has gone up? Help please!

Never mind - I fixed the formula - the last two sums were shown as + not -

Nice! How about credit cards start/end period dates? Not all credit cards periods are equal to the month beginning/end
@theorganizednotebook8 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching the video! 😊 We didn’t specifically include those dates to keep the database simple for “accounts”. If you do want to add that information it can be done through the additional notes property for accounts. It can also be seen if you set manual filters inside of your specific account page to see that date range! Hope this is helpful and if you need any help with this template we can assist you further through our email at organizednotebook.info@gmail.com

It's really great. How would I track borrowing amount to/ from friend. Thanks
@theorganizednotebook7 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for sending us such a good question! We would recommend you treating it as an account. For example, adding BORROW / LEND account, or even add the person you borrow from or lend to as an account. Let us know if it works out for you, and again thank you so much for sharing your question!

Great Template! It would be cool to see credit card points earned with expenses. A lot of credit cards now offer point bonuses on every-day spend, so seeing how much points are earned during a month or quarter would be helpful data! Any suggestions on how I could include that in this template?
@theorganizednotebook7 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you so much for your comment. Definitely a great idea to track the credit card points! A straightforward solution we recommend is creating a separate section on the account page where you can manually record points. This approach avoids dealing with complex formulas that could potentially disrupt the template's functions.

I prefer to budget by category (rent, bills, food, etc) Is it possible to edit the template to include this?
@theorganizednotebook3 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching! Each expense is also organized by category so you can see how much you spent on each area! Something like this formula could work in the "monthly tracker" : (current.prop("Category") == "Groceries", current.prop("Amount"),0)).sum()/prop("Grocery Budget") to get a percentage of the budget used in that month. Does bank accounts information syncs with the template? Or do you have to input all transactions every time?
@theorganizednotebook5 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! Notion doesn't have any integrations with bank account information so you will have to input your transactions.

Your template is nice, but will it be possible set recurring credit payment deadline, lets say 20 day after statement day, eg 31st and if no 31th then will be 1st of next mth, and thus i can see on notion calendar,which i hv no idea of how to set up
@theorganizednotebook5 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching our video! Unfortunately with Notion that would be a more complicated customization to add multiple recurring payment deadlines to a single credit bill. It would also depend on your exact needs with the credit payments & Notion calendar! We can discuss this further with you if you send us an email at organizednotebook.info@gmail.com

2:13 What is the purpose of the listed templates (Bank Account, Credit card, etc) when creating an account? Are the expenses and income synced?
@theorganizednotebook6 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching our video! The listed templates are there so that you can choose the right account and have it prefilled with the correct "type" property. To make all of the money work in one place, we decided to approach "accounts" as not just bank accounts, but cash, and credit cards too. If you add a "cash" account it is simply the amount of cash you have at home on hand. Credit card account would be a negative number as you spend more, and then you would need to do a bank transfer to pay the credit card off. Expenses and income can be added or deducted from the chosen account! If you need further help, feel free to contact us at organizednotebook.info@gmail.com we also offer free 10-15 minute coaching/consultations so we can provide more personalized help!

Is there a way to make the monthly recurring costs auto-add when the due date comes, without having to manually add them to each payment made in the expenses section?
@theorganizednotebook6 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching our video. You can use the recurring feature in Notion to create a database template that will repeat on a monthly cycle for the payment. You would have to make sure to tag it with the correct month & quarterly tracker for it to work in the monthly & quarterly reports. We would be happy to walk you through this if you send us an email at organizednotebook.info@gmail.com

Is it possible to combine this with the 50/30/20 finance tracker?
@theorganizednotebook3 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! At the moment they are both standalone templates but it could be combined if you add an additional tag for the three categories into the expense tracker and add the formula from the 50/30/20 tracker into the monthly tracker! Hope this helps at the moment, and we will consider adding this as part of an updated finance tracker in the future! I want to love this template but not all of my recurring payments are monthly. I have a few recurring payments that at bi-weekly. Unfortunately, when I choose the biweekly option, it template doesn't seem to record the due dates correctly. It still sets the due date for a month later. 😣😣
@theorganizednotebook3 ай бұрын
Hi thank you for downloading our template, and we're sorry to hear that it doesn't meet your needs with only the monthly subscriptions. Notion has some limitations so we opted to only include a monthly tracker or the formula will get extremely complicated! One option could be simply to write out the bi-weekly due dates as an added text property and to configure the bi-weekly recurring payments into the expense system. If this sounds like a possible option for you, feel free to email us at organizednotebook.info@gmail.com and we are more than happy to film a short tutorial for you!

can you create a snowball method debt tracker
@theorganizednotebook2 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! That is a great idea, we will consider it for future videos. For now, one option to use the snowball method could be to sort the debt amount from lowest to highest to make sure you're paying off the smallest one first. Hope this helps!
