I'm re-gathering camping gear after having lost all of mine years ago plus I usually went camping with my mom and sister who had all the gear. I think I've spent about $350 or so because I got tents, tarps, air mattresses, sleeping bags, Coleman two burner stove, big plastic bins for everything, etc. I'm going to Horse Flats next weekend with my grown kids and granddaughter, who has never been camping! I'm so excited, I've been binge watching folks camping videos on here for days. I'm bringing my cast iron pan for sure as I plan to d some cooking right on the fire pit. Yay! I'm jealous of your camp kitchen box....it's very cool! Thanks for the video:)

Nice product and review. I was looking into one of those but in the meantime a good buddy of mine built me a chuck box which is very similar to your box. It was a birthday present. It's nice to have everything in once place self contained. Grab and go. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy & be safe !

ChrisW, Thanks for enjoying the video. I purchased mine about 10 years ago on close out at Cabela's. At that time I've seen a couple here and there. $350.00 seems high but you also have to consider the shipping cost too. What I like about this system is that it's small, everything I need in inside the box and I can close it up at camp and not worry about rodents. As I've mentioned before, if you're handy with your hands you can find plans or suggestion to build one yourself. I am looking at building a box to hold my dry goods, such as a chuck wagon box of sorts. Best of luck on your search. Cast Iron Kid

Thanks for your comment and keep playing with your food! Jeffrey

I recently built a chuck box from plans from blue sky kitchen. It took a while to build, but a really ingenious design and really lightweight. I think I put about $50 into materials. It's a nice alternative to what was presented here. This unit looks like it would be pretty heavy with all that gear in it, but I guess you can carry the stove separately. I've got mine down to about 30-35 pounds, and that means things like plastic spice jars, utensils & silverware. GSI stuff for cookware.

Awesome find. People are loving these things. The stove is my go to stove now as well. I cook about 3-4 meals on it a week during the summer. Make a video and share your experiences. Cast Iron Kid.

It's one of those items with a low available count. I purchased mine at Cabela's years ago in the discount area. If your interested in it, I would continue to watch it and perhaps make the seller an offer with a couple days left. State that the shipping is a huge part of the price and perhaps you can get it for $100.00 plus shipping. Lastly, it's one of those things that if you'll use it a lot and really like the operation, it's a one time expense. I still love mine and get great comments each time I share the experience with others. Once again, It's great for a base camp when car camping. Best of luck.

You are correct, spending a $100.00 on a kitchen is a lot. I don't think I paid that much, but if I had the chance to get everything that I'd need in an all in one system, then I would spend it, once! This kitchen has been there, and back and has also met and exceeded expectation of everyone I cooked for. Simply, a kitchen in the old chuck wagon theme. Build one if you'd like, but this will be hard to beat. Please let me know how yours turn out. Best of luck!
@1990westfalia10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. The kit is awesome, and you're right, it weights about 40-45 pounds. But frankly, it holds everything including spices, mixes and products that I commonly used while camping. Hotdogs and hamburgers are great usually, but this kit allows me to have fun with different meals. If I didn't have one and had a chance to get one, I would. It will be the last kitchen you'll ever have Expect if you get an RV.

Thank you for your nice words. This kitchen has been a wonderful product. As I've looked on line, there are many other kitchens that people have built. So if you can't find one to buy, you can make one pretty cheap as well. In fact, I am looking at building a food pantry. A place that can hold the dry goods that I need to take on a trip...instead of a grocery bag. Best of luck. Cast Iron Kid

Thank you for your comment regarding my camp kitchen. As per your question and comment of being of plastic, I would like to possible enlighten or correct something. Yes it is made of a plastic, yet it is not that same flexible, easy to break container that you buy at Home Depot/Target. I used to use those. This container will last for many years as currently it is about 10 years old and is still solid! It isn't light and metal and wood might be heavier.Yes the freezing temps might effect it, but that will hurt almost anything.They don't make these any more, darn! Thanks again for your view! Dwight, What, you think it's too big for backpack camping, you are sadly mistaken, my friend. It is perfect for that Ultra Light weight backpacking trip! I typically will carry this on a 5 or 6 day solo backpacking trip, along with a cast iron Dutch Oven and a 12 inch cast iron Lodge skillet. The entire set up only weights about 125 pounds, no issues here! Just a quick question back to you, how does that 28' travel trailer feel when you carry it on your back when you go low impact camping?

Nice little system but the price is a little too steep for me. Personally, I use two clear plastic tubs then cut and modified some cardboard boxes for organizing the inside. I don't get the point. It's too large for backpack camping, but unnecessarily minimalist for car camping. For the latter, there's just no great reason to not have a more capable grill, better pots & pans, and similar. Happily, I don't have to worry about this anymore since my camping is now done with a 28' travel trailer (indoor kitchen, outdoor kitchen, etc) towed off-road behind my 4x4 truck.
