I love your video and boat. I’m really set on this model. Can you clarify for me. You said the motor was a 80/60. The 2024 models only come stock with a 65/48 for biggest motor. Is yours indeed a 80/60 and did you have to special order the motor? Thanks
@ADAMLS1240SX7 ай бұрын
Its a 90/65. Do not get the small motor, it takes a ton of power to move a jet boat. The 90/65 is a special order yes.
@OutDoors4067 ай бұрын
@@ADAMLS1240SX thanks, I’ve owned jet boats for years and the biggest mistake people make is under powering them. I just want to verify before I go ask the dealer for the bigger motor. The dealer in my town is pretty green when it comes to boats. They just started carrying them. Thanks again for your quick reply. By the way, your video is by far the best on YT for that model.

One more question sorry. You said the boat tops out at 45kph? That’s only 28mph…can you do a speed run and use your gps to see what mph you can go? I am thinking of getting this set up, but if it can’t even do 30…with an 80hp motor, I might have to pass!
@ADAMLS1240SX11 ай бұрын
Hi, it actually goes 34mph, with 1 person, and 32 mph with 2 people. with gear, and full 17 gallon tank, full live well.
@2cthetruth11 ай бұрын
I hope so cause I’m probably going to pick one up soon! Last question…do the seals and bearings wear out annually or do you go long periods without major maintenance. Thanks never had a jet motor so need to know what I’m getting into
@ADAMLS1240SX11 ай бұрын
@@2cthetruth The only thing you have to do different that a normal outboard is grease the jet bearing with mercury grease from a normal grease gun. Its done after every time you take the boat in and out. So far its been very easy maintenance. Everything else is like the normal outboard, with oil changes, except you dont have to change gear oil cause there is none.

Everything has been great. It's not a big water boat but have had it in 4fters. Biggest issue stock was fuel capacity. I added a 17 gallon in hull tank.

I have the exact same boat. Can you share the brand and where you bought the larger fuel tank? Any chance you have a video of the installation process? (how tough was it?)

Really nice boat. I have a 2021 version (1760 Pathfinder) that's been nothing short of great. Sadly, I'll be selling it for personal reasons but it's the best fishing boat I've owned. I hope you continue to be happy with it. Surprised you got such a small fuel tank. Pretty sure mine is 19 gallons. Anyway, congrats and thanks for sharing.

Nice boat! With the Jet Wing, is it comparable to a prop when trolling?
@ADAMLS1240SX Жыл бұрын
I took the jet wing off, it seemed to drag too much water, and once at speed did not make much difference. Low speed it did. No you cant really troll with the Jet motor. I use the electric for trolling and it works awesome.

How do you trim the motor for increased passenger weight? Motor move up and down on a Jack plate or is the regular tilt and trim enough? Also how shallow water Al can you launch this thing? Thanks!
@ADAMLS1240SX11 ай бұрын
I use the normal engine trim. It draws about 6 inches of water at rest
@2cthetruth11 ай бұрын
How deep of water do you need to actually launch the boat? Thanks!
@ADAMLS1240SX11 ай бұрын
I use a normal boat ramp with my normal boat trailer. But you could actually drag the boat into very shallow water, it floats in 6 inches of water. And since the engine is above the hull. I guess you could launch it in 6 inches of water if you can get the boat into it.

My boat has welds at the bottom of the transom and the hull. A rock broke one and caused a leak not an easy place to reweld.

@ADAMLS1240SX I heard that later in the video, all low speed actions suck. I'm trying to figure out how it would improve low speed since not a lot of water would be flowing. I figured they were to help with turn drifting

I enjoyed your review of the Crestliner Retriever. I am in very in depth consideration of this line. I am interested in visiting with you to get your thoughts at this stage of ownership. I am like you, in a shoal infested area here on the Maine coast. Even inland waters have a lot of erratics from the glacial periods. I have become keenly interested in a tunnel hull for this reason. Your boat is really sharp and I like what you've done with it. If you are up for it I'd love to talk.

So far its been great, the only issues are that in heavy waves its not great, and for having a 80hp engine its slow (max 34mph or so). Its great to fish and hunt out of, and its really great to skim over rocks and shallow water.
@edrose9941 Жыл бұрын
@@ADAMLS1240SX Do you think the 18 or 20 foot version would perform any better in bigger water? Like you, I have some big water to cross but I can adjust launch locations on certain days. I was also looking at other boats but the .125 gauge is more attractive to me.
@ADAMLS1240SX Жыл бұрын
@@edrose9941 I dont think it would do much better, I did a hunting video in some heavy water. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYOwmXptr5qkp5I and i dont think an extra 2ft is going to help much. I was fine, you just have to go slow, and one benefit is that you can tuck in close to shore for protection. So far its been fine, you wont be going out in a storm in it.
@ADAMLS1240SX Жыл бұрын
@@edrose9941 one interesting thing is that in a heavy following sea, the jet will cavitate. But if your in that type of water to start with your not going fast, so its a non issue.

I have had both inboard and outboard jetboats. An outboard jet can never be the ultimate shallow water boat. Inboards are the only way to hit the limits of what a jetboat can do.
