This was the first thai food I had on my first trip to TH. I remember ordering it randomly at the Pin klao Tesco Lotus food court. I went for a second round as well 😂. I miss Thailand ❤

This video reminds me of a Frederico Fellini film. You use the editing as a visual to imply just how glorious and marvelous the pork leg, egg, pickled vegetables, rice, chilies and garlic are. To describe the flavor in physical motion. Thai food really is that glorious and graceful.
@JoelsTastyRide3 күн бұрын
What a compliment, really incredible you describing with such beautiful words about my editing! I love the imagery of using visual motion to describe the flavor of food - it really is that glorious - and this recipe specifically really deserved a good effort today :) haha. and yes, you're right, pretty much all of Thai food is this way!

Good Morning Li & Joel and cheers to the entire BruCrew. Happy 2nd Sunday of Advent. Blessings to all & peace be with You! This Auntie's dish looks sensational thanks for sharing this with us. BTW at our favorite supermarket (Publix) a pork tenderloin (probably the best cut of meat) costs US$9.99 for a 1.5 Lb. package (680 grams for Baht 340). Have a wonderful week!
@JoelsTastyRide4 күн бұрын
Good morning to you too Ron man, thank you so much :) wow hey thank you for the info about tenderloin! I have never bought this in Thailand but, I just always appreciate the funny (VERY interesting to me, but its so detailed I think some people just get bored... so I dont go into detail in the videos :) but its always funny how Thailand definitely is not just "cheaper than life in the US," but also at the same time there are so many things (like food) where the US is actually cheaper than Thailand! Meat is definitely one case, for example a steak here costs about 5 times more than one in the US (and the portion will be even smaller as well!), but I dont know maybe the fresh salad and/or fruit and/or rice that comes with it will be 5 times cheaper... and in the end, the entire meal might be the same price? Something like that.

Great video I learned a lot about the cuts of the meat.
@JoelsTastyRide23 сағат бұрын
Matt, thanks a ton man! Hey, I love learning about the different cuts of meat too, I realize that I really don't know much at all (if I had to butcher an animal, even though I've probably eaten parts of them 10,000 in my life, which actually is a little lesson to us humans and our world of food right now...)

Hey hey man! Well, that's a good question... Hey, have you eaten any exotic animals: dogs, rats, squirrels and bamboo rats before?
@JoelsTastyRide4 күн бұрын
Hi Kou! Yes, of the 4 you mention yes at least once for all of these... and I think rice field rats are great actually, very versatile especially in Thai "jungle" cooking!! I would say growing up in Africa I already ate many "exotic" animals though before I ever came to Thailand. What about you?
@kouvang12654 күн бұрын
@JoelsTastyRide Ooh, good to know. Oh, no way.. Dogs, snakes, rats/mice, and some insects scare me if by seeing whoever eats it.. gives me chill to the body and bones. Will make me vomit, I believe, but I don't know why I'm not scared of bamboo rat ( I haven't tried yet but it look tasty, Ahahaha) and squirrels (I'd eaten before, it's a favorite), turtles, porcupines, frogs and some insects. To my ethnicity, Hmong/Miao in the U.S., Laos, Thailand, China, and Vietnam, these are delicious. I don't know if my ethnicity has eaten other wild animals before: rabbits, iguanas, salamanders, ostriches, alligators, etc. But I know my ethnicity has eaten: monkeys, tigers, snakes, and wild boars, etc. Because I heard throughout stories my ancestors foretold when they still live in Asia.
@susiosaechao298Күн бұрын
If its so good why don't you learn to cook ?
@JoelsTastyRide23 сағат бұрын
Hi Susi! Its a good question, thankfully one with an easy answer :) There are many reasons why street food is awesome, one of them being HOW long it would take to cook at home (and how expensive) compared to the size/scale/quantity/price balance that someone with their own street cart can do. Besides the obvious difference in cost though, there's also the fact that I obviously couldn't compete for flavor with someone making only this one dish for 42 years :)
