This is the 5th tile project we've done where we've removed the old tile before installing new tile, and the first one with this tool kzbin.infoUgkxqqoaX03nrziKwF7Bjjcc71YzLEleMvOS . I want to cry for all the unnecessary work we've done in the past. With this tool, we removed tile surrounding a fireplace, as well as the hearth tile, set in loads of cement, in less than an hour. just fyi the Dewalt DCB1800 the big charger is actually a power station it converts battery power to 120 ac power and it also comes with 3 5ah battery and a flex volt battery

I've owned Porter Cable (back when they were independent and amazing), Makita (great stuff), DeWalt (burned out a corded drill in less than a month, didn't like the handle on the cordless), and, for the last five years, Hitachi. The Hitachi is rock solid. Never a problem, fantastic lifetime warranty. Just bought their 18 volt brushless hammer drill (DV18DBL2) and impact driver (WH18DBSL2). Both are top in their class and very satisfying to use. The charger is FAST--about 30 minutes from zip to full. Not sure what their buying of Metabo will mean other than a name change. They state on their website that the tools will be made in the same factories to the same specs, so it looks promising.

That entry level Hitachi is slept on big time. The batteries are authentic Samsung cells and the tool is truely jobsite tough (minus some chuck wobble). I'm a landscaper and I bore 1 inch holes in lots of stumps to treat/kill them, as well as repairing decks, pergolas, and bucket mixing.

I have the Dewalt 20V XR and am very happy with it. Shopping for a cordless drill and 1/4" impact set. It was a very close call between them and Milwaukee. It's actually how I found your channel. And for some reason every time I see a Makita I see a beautiful blonde in a yellow dress lol.

As a normal homeowner consumer that does housework/DIY Automotive/home projects, the Ryobi platform is really hard to beat. Over 7 years I’ve accumulated 24 different cordless tools, 14 batteries and only one of them from my original set has started to lose some capacity with regular use. Once you’re invested in the system, the cost of ownership can go way down with some smart shopping and capitalizing on big sales.

Wow. The most thorough analysis of cordless drill/drivers I've ever seen. Video or otherwise. I was stunned by the result. I think I'm the only person I've ever met who bought a Hitachi, and that was because of the low price on Amazon (about $80 with two batteries, $101 as of today) plus the stellar Amazon reviews. Indeed, it's a lot nicer than the previous cordless drills I've owned. But I've never seen one in a store.

Milwaukee has more warranty coverage that is not mentioned. If like us and most of the country you dont have a Milwaukee service location near by.... You can go online to their website and print out a prepaid shipping label and drop the tool off to the fed ex driver. A week later you will have your tool at the door repaired or a new one. The last two tools I sent in were two of the m12 multi tools. The circuit board failed in both and I had two replacements exactly a week from the day I shipped them. They have upgraded the board in those tools as well.

I got the SnapOn drill with 2 batteries and the dual charger for $350. Only paid that cuz he was there and I needed one like now. Lol it broke once after a year of hard use and he just swapped it out for a new one, no questions asked.

There was so much genuinly important info in this. While the tool to tool (and charger v charger) overview may have been a bit much, and could have better been their own video, taking more than half the video in total, the rest of the analysis on the tools is REALLY good, and comes up with a list, and a WHY everything on that list is where it is. Along with an A/B on the reviews judgements too. SUCH a good analysis.

I bought a 99 dollar Stanley 20v lithium drill/ driver and its an impact driver too. with one battery and charger 6 years ago and although i wouldn't say commercially used, its been used alot! And it takes 1/2 bits. 700 bucks for a drill/ driver? Does it wipe your ass? Crazy

The M18 multi-volt chargers that come with their drill kits charge batteries in an alternating order based on which battery was inserted first. The other battery is on a standby until the first battery is fully charged, or removed.

I traded my failing Craftsman 19.2 drills impact drivers grinders tools didn't fail the batteries once I went to lithium didn't have a very good duty cycle. And upgraded to Milwaukee, looking at your prices on the drills I bought a kit standard price from my Home Depot for $229 came with a half inch drill quarter inch impact to our battery 5 Hour battery and a charger and a bag that I'll never use. Chargers charge super fast. Got a angle grinder off Marketplace that came with a 6 hour battery. I don't think I'll go back the drill chuck is the best I've ever had.

I've actually walked into Lowes here in Front Royal, Virginia. I have exchanged both the 1/4 and 3/8 Pear Shaped ratchets. The Area GM just happened to be at the CS counter. They (Lowes) will honor the Craftsman LT warranty. They handle it in the store like a return on the P.O.S.

Thanks for the big review. A year ago I upgraded to L-ion and went with Makita. I'm very happy with the tools I got, but this review had been out back then I would have looked at Hitachi, and probably gone with them - I could certainly have gotten more tools for the same money! Last summer I was putting together a gazebo from a kit, and needed to drive 1000+ hex-head 6mm machine screws, so I bought a Hitachi power screwdriver, and I'm very impressed with it. I'd been down on Hitachi because of some earlier bad experiences, but things change, and now I'll keep those ugly green tools in mind. (It's the green I find ugly, not the tools.)

The dual capability of the Ryobi chargers means that it can charge both Lithium and original Ryobi 18V Ni-cad batteries. I still have a couple of them and they are charged by both of the chargers in your video plus another cheaper model that came with my Ryobi edge trimmer.

On that 6-port charger from the walkie it does 3 m12 and 3 M18 batteries. That is a sequential charger meaning it only charges one pack at a time sure you can put three 18-volt packs on there in three 12-packs on there but it's only going to do one of them at a time wait till one gets done and then it'll go to the next one automatically potentially taking hours to get done charging all your batteries depending on capacity size of the batteries and depletion of charge

I bought into dewalt and have had a great experience. It really comes down to the first tool you buy. If you buy Milwaukee drill, you'll buy more Milwaukee tools so batteries can be interchangeable. Whichever you buy first, you buy more of lol.

Hey falcon, yeah they all spin, but it’s not if they spin as much as it is how they spin. I have the Milwaukee Fuel (Gen 3) Hammer Drill and Impact Driver, it not only spins, but it spins fast and has more torque than any other cordless drill driver or hammer drill I’ve ever used.

Red, the one other factor(big factor) that should be looked at when buying 1/2" drills is torque. If you are getting a 1/4" it doesn't matter, but if you are using drill drivers for forstner bits, for example, you need the torque and I'll bet there is a huge difference between the brands.

Also, These brands should show the Kv rating of thier brushless motor. A lower Kv rating usually means more torque.

The dewalt 4 port charger is also a battery bank. If you have 4 batterys in it you can draw 15 amps ac 120v

Great video. Just want to point out that no one pays list price for snap on tools if they have a dealer. Snap on is not retail but a long term relationship with dealer and tools. Still they are ezpensive but some of the new brushless tools are fantastic.new sander polisher is by far best on market (first gen was a piece of junk). Dealer takes cate of warranty

My 4 year old black and decker drill is exactly the same as the Porter Cable (non-BL) and cost $60 with one 1.5AH battery. Bought a cheap blower for $60, comes with a 2.0AH battery, bought a cheap weedeater for $60 comes with another 2.0AH battery. Bought another cheap weedeater for $40 on clearance, comes with another 2.0AH battery. All came with chargers, slow but Ive got a lot of batteries and chargers. Oh yeah, the weedeaters are only 5 pounds! The original 4 year old battery finally died. I like the new BL stuff, maybe I will look into it when all of my B&D batteries and tools die in 10 years.

Great review there , Hitachi's power tool division is called Hitachi Koki, and they decided to re-brand as HiKOKI in 2018 and they bought Metabo in 2015, Metabo HPT is the new name of Koki Holdings America. edit, The investment firm KKR bought Hitachi Koki from Hitachi and changed the name to HiKOKI. I think Snap-on price policy is -think of a high price and double it, those techs will pay anything for a nice Snap-on label and when it's on drip payments (weekly/monthly) it looks cheap, and there is a tool van to visit them regularly. Ryobi is aimed at the diy sector, and sells on 'one battery fits everything'. I noticed you only tested Bosch's 'blue line' =pro user and not their 'green line' =diy user, it would have been interesting to see. Stanley Black and Decker also have similar lines -DeWalt =pro user and Black and Decker =diy user.

As far as your comment about drill drivers yes they are going to be your most go to Tool... however depending on your situation... meaning are you a contractor or a homeowner such as myself... what drill do you really need?... well again I like to break it down to your needs... if you are a contractor then in my opinion the best power tour on the market is Milwaukee.... followed by Dewalt... now if you are a homeowner like myself that can be broken up in a couple of different categories.... if you or someone that does bear basics such as changing a light fixture... putting up a ceiling fan... or minor touchups around the house... then you can go with something like Black & Decker which is a great brand for very Minor use... if you are a homeowner that likes to do small projects and uses your tools a fair amount then I highly recommend Ryobi which is what are used myself.... I have used most of the brands on this list N can you tell you for a fact that Ryobi is your best Bang for your buck... I wouldn’t put them quite in the category of contractor grade tools but they are definitely the next best thing

On the Ryobi charger you said you didn't know what dual chemistry is well that simply means that that particular charger can charge nickel cadmium batteries which would be the old batteries as well as lithium batteries which would be the new batteries

The six port ryobi charger is a sequential charger. I have set mine up with all dead batteries. It charged them in my opinion fairly quickly.

Good video and great points about retail price and service. For me, power and ergonomics were a little more important than straight value - the Makita family is my choice (Milwaukee would have been my second choice). The compact is my daily driver (bought bare) while the kit I bought has a hammer drill / impact with the batteries and charger xt268t. One advantage Milwaukee and DeWalt have is the sheer volume of tools sold each year - lots available either new out of a kit or used if one isn't worried about warranty. Hercules will be interesting to watch given how easy the warranty is and the value pricing - I look forward to that line growing. Ryobi has some cool stuff in their family - pretty solid choice for the lower end.

I have a Black and Decker LDX120 (2) 1.5 AH 20v I bought at Wally Mart It came with charger, 11 position clutch, brushed, 1-bit, 3/8inch chuck I left my battery fully charged sit all year it still had all its charge, I had a half charged battery in the drill it held its charge I use mine for R/C building, metal working, everyday use. It's held up 👍 I wish it had a battery meter, it does have a light though

Thanks for the great video! I switched from DeWalt to Makita years ago when they came out with the Lithium ion tools, and DeWalt was still all NiCad, and others were NiMh, so am too deep into it to make a change at this point. I've been happy with Makita, but I gotta admit I'm a little jelly of the Milwaukee Fuel line of tools the last few years...

A lot of the new Craftsman stuff isn't half bad. Some of the better ones are made in the USA at SBD's Charlotte, NC plant right beside similar DeWalt models. I've got the Craftsman 20v impact driver, which is practically identical to one of the DeWalts internally, just a different shaped battery and body shell.

HOOOWEEE! That IS a lot of info. Quite the stat analysis to be sure. I can hardly believe I made it through to the end. What kept my interest is that I sell many of these Tools at Lowe's. I am constantly pulled in to the "who makes the best" argument and I am inclined to say that they all have their junk. it amazes me how many profess one brand as the best when, as i see it, You kind of have to swear away your soul to one manufacturer or the other mostly because your stuck in their battery system. I will say though that DeWalt did well to choose black and yellow for their color scheme. It looks very "consructiony". RE: Metabo We sold these tools for a while with some difficulty as they were were very pricey at the time for our particular market. Then one day the Hitachi rep came and explained that The Koki Group who owned the Hitachi name had decided to kick it aside and run with their recent acquisition "Metabo". They were basically kicking a competitor aside in the process. Very convenient that they both used green and black as their color scheme. As I see it they are very Hitachi like to the point that I personally refer to them affectionately as "Metachi" or "Hitabo". 'nuff said for now. I could wax on forever on the topic of tools so I'd better stop.

One thing to point out about that expensive Dewalt charger, it has a built in battery so you can take it to an area that is far away from an outlet, or out in a forest.

I have the DCB1800B, it does not have a built in battery. it uses the batteries that are attached on top as the power source for the inverter.

A lot of thoughts on this video. Rather than attempt to compose a coherent and concise comment, I present to you a "top ten" list of sorts: 1. I think Porter Cable may be in their sunset years. I agree with your speculation that Stanley may position Craftsman in the "Goldilox Zone" between DeWalt and Black & Decker. 2. ToolBoxBuzz did shoot outs between several brands of impact drivers and multi-tools, Porter Cable among them. They had little to say about Porter Cable, good or bad. 3. I sunk a lot of money into the Porter Cable platform four years ago. No regrets, but the 6 1/2" trim saw is subpar at best. The dual port charger with the bag is really nice. 4. I think Bostitch may be in the same boat. I'm not super impressed with the air tools I've bought from them. Pierce and Banks give them serious competition. 5. I have no fewer than eight battery platforms, new and old, in my garage. Tool sprawl is a thing. I don't think you have to marry a battery platform. Cost of additional/replacement batteries matters more to me. Remind me of that when I'm 20 feet up a ladder and my battery runs out of chooch with no spare. 6. As I was watching the video, I realized I rarely consider the warranty when buying a tool. 7. The Harbor Freight protection plans, even as add-ons, are real value for the money when compared to the competition. 8. The convenience that comes with Hilti and Festool warranties might make them worth the price, if you live and die by your tools. 9. Where is the break point in dollars where diminishing returns begin to kick in? $100 - $150 seems like the sweet spot. 10. This "weasel word" laden list was brought to you by insomnia.

Man you were spot on with this. If I ran a decent sized company I would totally buy Hilti or such. Outsourcing that headache has real value. And you are dead to rights on that $150 price point.

I don't buy that argument for #8. When you can buy 10 of something else for the same price, I don't see it. You live or die by your tools, but what happens when your $700 snap on drill breaks? You wait for the tool truck to come by? You call the tool truck, and hope he comes that day? What are the odds he has a freaking drill on his Truck? Guessing 0. Either way you slice it, you will be using another drill while yours is being fixed or replaced. So again, what does this great tool truck warranty service really get you?
