In today’s video, Coach Justin from Ultimate Baseball Training shares a few actionable baseball hitting tips that you can take with you to the field to help you hit more home runs. Soon you’ll be crushing the ball harder and further than ever before.
The first tip is to be loose and relaxed. Loose muscles are fast muscles, resulting in more bat speed which will lead to more home runs. When we tense up at the plate and try to crush the ball by squeezing the sawdust out of the bat, our bat speed is actually slower. Have a loose grip, relaxed shoulders, and a relaxed jaw. Make sure you have a little movement and you’re not standing completely still.
The next tip is to develop an aggressive mentality instead of a passive one. A hitter’s mentality is often overlooked, but it is one of the most important aspects to becoming a better hitter. An aggressive mentality of trying to hammer the baseball will put your body into a more powerful position.
The last tip is to achieve quality separation. Allow your body to naturally walk away from your hands. Avoid artificially pushing your hands back when you load. Remember, we want to be like a rubber band stretched to it’s fullest potential ready to explode on the baseball.
Follow these tips to crush more home runs and become a more powerful and productive hitter.

I'd recommend using a wood bat in practice most of the time, but be sure you're comfortable with your real bat too. A wood bat will make you a better hitter though due to the smaller sweet spot.

Do you have any advice as to how to approach this kind of pitcher, it seems I twist out of my shoes at em and hit dribblers, even though I know, a friend told me to try and take it the other way and still pull it, but that is very hard to do, any advice?

Hey coach, i plan to play baseball for my college team, only thing is I’ve never played before. I’ve played football my whole life and have been really good, but I’ve always wanted to try baseball. I run a 4.4 40 yard dash and I can throw pretty well so all my friends tell me to play center field. I know the basic rules, my only concern is hitting. Which brings me here! Please help me out and give me some feedback for what to expect. Anything helps, thanks!

Does a high kick give you more power?
@UltimateBaseballTraining
@UltimateBaseballTraining 6 жыл бұрын
No. Your load is not a source of power. Your load is a timing mechanism. If it gave you incredible amounts of more power, you'd see every Major Leaguer leg kick and guys like Albert Pujols wouldn't be good enough to play in the Bigs. But Albert Pujols has 620 home runs in his career without a leg kick. If a leg kick makes sense and is comfortable for you, then do it! But don't try to change your swing just because you see a few other players doing it.

I have a question, does it matter how high or how low your back elbow is when your batting ? My friend told me if I keep my elbow up you chop the ball more.

As long as your back elbow isn't extremely high (way above your shoulder) then I think it's personal preference.

Once you get the proper mechanics and they become second nature. You can learn to increase bat speed and therefore giving the ball a more violent launch.

I was told to have my hands by my ears and have my bat straight up

Everybody's stance is different bud. Some coaches think everyone needs to be standing in the same position and that's just absurd. You need to find a athletic stance that works out for you and also works with good mechanics. My son's coach had him standing the same way you described. I got him a few lessons from elite college coaches and players and they came up with a stance that fits him well and now he hits dingers.

My grandson (8 years old) has been hit while batting this summer 6 times. It’s his first year to play and now he’s afraid to bat. He keeps backing out of the box. What can I do to help him. Grandma Sherry

It sounds counterintuitive, but I would have him learn how to properly get hit by a pitch first. Although this video is about stepping in the bucket, pay attention to when I talk about teaching players to get hit: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHasdXh-pbyAgZY
