@@stevegovea1 That joke sucks. If THAT word-for-word is the joke you told Doug, he probably pity-laughed at you because hey, he admired your guts for doing it in the first place. But JEEZ. Jeez. If you honestly can't remember how the joke goes, then... What the hell is wrong with you? Make something up! We won't know the difference anyway. Don't start the story with a "something to do with" or a "I think it was about" or any crap like that. That's a new type of lazy I haven't seen yet. I hope you worked on your storytelling skills since then :)

My all time favourite Stanhope set. Seeing him live was incredible but I still didn’t laugh as hard as I did at this the first time I heard it. Between Henry’s guitar and the profundity of the Bobbie Barnett bit make this the definitive Stanhope experience.

Every comedian idolizes him because of his pure comedy anti $ truth. Check out Joe Rogan talking about him. He's a true behind the scenes comedian. Other comedians sell out stadiums, but Stanhope would have an audience of comedians, just to witness. Like Norm MacDonald writing.

This guy should ask Brendan Schaub or Bert Kreischer for some help writing funny jokes. Either one of those legends will be able to help this new lad get used to not having to use a laugh track in his stand up to make it seem like the audience laughed. I was there that night, there wasn't even anyone in the crowd for the taping, we all had to leave the auditorium so they could put cardboard cutouts into the seats. We all got to watch the show on TV screens and absolutely no one was laughing, actually that's a lie he did get a few real laughs, but no where near the amount in this laugh track.

I know. Mulaney did the "'Midget is the same as the n-word' joke in "New in Town" too. Also, Stanhope has a joke in a later special about how they can keep changing the word "retarted" to other words and we keep co-opting the new word, then Tom did that joke in one of his recent netflix specials.
