Garrett Bush of the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show and The Barbershop details Ugly Details Surface In The Myles Garrett vs. Cleveland Browns Trade Saga. Amid speculation over his future in Cleveland, Myles Garrett has officially requested a trade from the Browns.
Garrett said Monday in a statement obtained by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport that he'd like to move elsewhere prior to the 2025 NFL season.
"As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl -- and that goal fuels me today more than ever," Garrett wrote. "My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today.
"While I've loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won't allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. "With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns."
Garrett, 29, is coming off his seventh straight double-digit sack season, including four straight with 14 or more. He has earned five straight Pro Bowl bids, has four career first-team All-Pro honors and is the reigning AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Browns general manager Andrew Berry said last week "you can put that on the record" that he wasn’t interested in trading Garrett, even for two first-round picks. Berry even indicated the franchise wanted to sign Garrett to an extension.
Rapoport reported on Monday that the Browns' stance on Garrett has not changed following his request.
Garrett signed a five-year, $125 million extension in 2020, leaving two years left on the deal. His contract carries salary-cap hits of $19.7 million and $20.4 million in 2025 and 2026, respectively. Garrett is due a roster bonus worth $5 million on the fifth day of the league year on March 16.
The Browns have been fairly competitive for most of Garrett's run in Cleveland, although they have made the postseason only twice in his time with the team. Things bottomed out last season as Cleveland dropped to a 3-14 record, even with Garrett leading the NFL with 22 tackles for loss and just one year after an 11-win campaign with the league's top-ranked defense.
Now his time in Cleveland might be nearing an end.

So what’s been lacking throughout this regime is leadership. When great young players show immaturity it’s up to leadership to navigate through all that and they failed. Whether it was the helmet swinging incident, Baker playing through a serious injury in 2021 etc it was up to leadership to handle that properly and they did not.

💯. Baker was like what…22, 23 when he said that stuff about Myles? He was guided to make those remarks to show he’s “matured.” GBush is going to hold him accountable for that? But not Myles for swinging that helmet? I don’t blame Myles either, but come o.

GB Q: 25:50 “Do I think Myles Garrett is just going to wait around while the Browns figure it out?” A: Yeah, I do. Because he has no leverage in this negotiation. He has two more years on his contract. He’s even admitted this during interviews. So it’s not up to him. So again “yes” he will wait until the Browns decide what they want to do with him, either keep or trade…but he will wait until they decide. I guess the lesson for Myles is next time don’t sign such a long contract if you want to have the option to make these types of moves at a time you consider a crossroad in your career. Edit: Added tumestamp

Because of Andrew Berry's brilliant cap space restructuring, Myles cap hit for the next two years and beyond is $36 million, but he is only owed $2.5 million the next two years. They paid him his money upfront in signing bonus and restructuring. If he goes to another team and get a new contract, he can make more money. Probably net another 100 million. What player at his caliber wants to make $2.5 million for 2 years? This is why AB was stupid to restructure.

Can't decide if ChatGPT's AI trade machine proposal is insane or genius: - Browns *draft Shedeur Sanders* (2025 draft pick) & *package him with Myles* - Raiders send to the Browns *Maxx Crosby* and their *2026 #1-3 overall pick*
@rk-jn5mp

ChatGPT's reasoning: If the Raiders believe Shedeur Sanders is a true franchise QB, they might say yes. But if they want to wait for Arch Manning, they say no and keep their 2026 pick. Most Likely Outcome? Raiders Decline. They’d rather keep their #1 pick & Crosby unless Sanders is undeniably elite.

Agree, Baker was very immature in college and with the Browns as well. He needed to hit bottom, which he did in Carolina, to wake up and turn himself around. He always had the talent, but his immaturity got in the way of his success. Even Baker now admits he needed to grow up. Now he is successful at Tampa, I'm happy for him. Passing judgement on Myles/Rudolph incident was a great example of his immaturity. A mature guy would have said nothing, or said "I am going to talk to Myles before I comment on the incident as I don't have all the facts". And when in doubt, you back your TEAMMATE!

Peyton Manning dropped his pants in front of a female reporter. He was in his 20's and immature. He threw 100 interceptions in his first 5 years. They didn't stupidly get rid of him after his 6-10 season in their 4th season after going to the playoffs in their 3rd year. After Payton's 4th season. He started for teams with double digit wins for the next 12 years. They're 20 something years old. Why do people go apeshit about immaturity? Ar least he wasn't breaking the law.

I actually agree that Shedeur Sanders is the most pro-ready. (Dillion Gabriel probably is too). I've watched film on the QBs and I think that Cam Ward is the best QB in this class, but Shedeur Sanders is practically everything that Kevin Stefanski could want in a QB. If the Browns draft Shedeur Sanders, then I will give him a chance. My biggest concern with him is that we would get to his 3rd or 4th year and we would all be arguing about whether or not he is a franchise QB or if he'll ever be good enough to win a Super Bowl. @tmoneyfotwenty stupid comment bro. Deshaun Watson was plastered all over mainstream media day and night regardless of it being about cleveland. Tucker has been no where. Explain it if it isn't about race

LOL...way to throw politics into football. These dudes are making millions/ year to play a game...MILLIONS TO PLAY A GAME! But keep crying about the "look what this guy got, and this guy has, and I'm better than them...."what about me" LOL...victims. These millionaires that play football are victims...LOL. I usually agree with most of your opinions, but this is 100% LaQueenism. I agree that the Browns as an organization dropped the ball over the last few years, but this selfishness, ego, and a victim mentality being narrated by multi-millionaire athletes is pathetic and quite frankly juvenile.

Wasn’t Myles upset when the fans cheered when Watson got hurt? That probably added to his decision

Nah, watson played so bad, he deserved those boo, plus watson assaulted dozens of women off the field too, fans had every right to cheer when he got hurt, he was 1-6 with the worst qBr in the nfl. We won more with jameis and that made myles happy

I LOVE WHAT YOUR SAYIN G. BUSH! THERE IS A POLICTICAL CORRECT FACE A TEAM MUST HAVE (DISPLAY) FOR PUBLIC PERCEPTION! BUT THEN THEIR IS HAVING TEAMMATES BACK! A HIGH FIVE BEHIND THE SCENES! I WON'T GO INTO IT! HEATED GAMES HAVE PLAYERS GETTING HEATED! BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE TEAMMATES THAT STICKUP FOR YOURS! I REMEMBER CRIBBS UNBWLIEVEABLE WEAPON ON KICK RETURNS? HE GETS US (HIMSELF A HEAD OF PITTSBURGH)? AND ON A FAIR CATCH (HEATED GAME)? A PLAYER (PITT) BURIES HIM ON A FAIR CATCH? OUT OF THE GAME? NOW ITS HEATED! AND THESE PLAYS THEN HAPPEN! )LIKE MYLES IN PITT)! YOU HAVE TO HAVE PLAYERS (SOME OF THE BIG GUYS)! HAVE YOUR BACK AND MAY IN RAGE RETAILATE! THE POLICTICAL CORRECT TO PUBLIC? THEN THE HIGH FIVE BEHIND THE SCENES! THIS IS WHY A MIKE TOMLIN DOES THIS GREAT! THE BROWNS STAFF? AND THE TEAM BACKING EACH OTHER? MOST WOULD? BUT A POLICTICAL CORRECTNESS STAFF? WELL GET THE PICTURE! THIS IS WHAT YOUNEED TO BE A TEAM! PLAYING WITH BIG BOYS WHO PLAY ROUGH!

That incident made people root for Pittsburgh. Made Cleveland look like a bunch of savages. Why does a big man like Myles need to use his helmet for a weapon? If TJ Watt did that, the whole world would hate Pittsburgh. Myles is a clown.

I was thinking also is that situation even avoidable if we keep baker? If we kept baker we might have a better roster and that’s “might” but even still are we are probably making the playoffs or close to it every year. Also we probably aren’t not more than likely not going to may if any AFC Finals so at end of everything we are probably still blowing everything up around this time granted yea probably with more assets but we aren’t sure who or what they would look like so honestly I think that all this goes back to when baker Chubb and ward were drafted. We were destined to be in this position since that draft imo

Trade Myles & bring back Nick Chubb because the fanbase loves him & he wants to be a Brown I dont even care about the production next year cmon AB if youre going to do anything give us a person to root for who wants us to root for him. Im done with Myles the Browns have sucked for long before he was here & will suck for long after he's gone, & we'll still be here. We're a loyal fanbase & appreciate loyal players, probably almost more than we would appreciate winning. It's kind of sad but I'm okay with that

I THINK THAT THE POLICTICAL CORRECTNESS IS WHAT YOU PUT ON TO THE PUBLIC (BAKER HAD THE PROBLEM)! I THINK TEAM AND HAVING YOUR TWAMMATE'S BACK? MAYBE NOT PUBLICLY BUT PRIVATELY! AND I STRESS ON THE FIELD WERE IT GETS INTENSE! THESE ARE THE BIG BOYS YOU PLAY AGAINST? EMOTIONS RUN HIGH!

Your Clown ass organization is a joke and has quit on you for 30 years. Have they gave you a franchise QB? a Elite WR? Direct that energy to your ownership who’s taking your dollars and hasn’t given you one playoff game in that stadium but wants a new one .

Whatever tho don't matter and tbh they don't have to trade him at all I don't blame him but at the end of the day it's a business both ways
