The bridge QB has a couple of bad games, the fans start clamoring for the rookie to take over. Rookie is overwhelmed and plays poorly and never gets his confidence back.

Everyone wanted Watson, because it seemed like a good trade at the time. Unfortunately he doesn't fit Stefanski's antiquated offensive system, from 20+ years ago, and Stefanski was unwilling to hire a creative OC, that knew how to maximize Watson, because Stefanski didn't want to be outshined or give up play calling to be a head coach. Plus the organization still has a baseball analytical nerd meddling behind the scenes and until he is gone nothing with ever get better.
