They are used for cleaning jewellery, for mixing chemicals- all sorts. Anything you put into the tank gets vibrated at very high frequence - in this case, 28,000 times a second.
Ultrasonic cleaning is the rapid and complete removal of contaminants from objects by immersing them in a tank of liquid flooded with high frequency sounds waves. These non-audible sound waves create a scrubbing brush action within the fluid.
The process is brought about by high frequency electrical energy that is converted by a transducer into high frequency sound waves - ultrasonic energy. Its ability to clean even the most tenacious substances from items derives from the core of the unit: the transducer. The cleaning power of a unit stems from the transducers performance.
The efficiency of the transducer will affect both the cleaning time and efficacy achieved during the cleaning cycle. A poor quality transducer will use more power and take longer to clean items than a good transducer. The ultrasonic energy enters the liquid within the tank and causes the rapid formation and collapse of minute bubbles: a phenomenon known as cavitation. The bubbles rapidly increase in size until they implode against the surface of the item
immersed in the tank in an enormous energy release, which lifts contamination off the surface and innermost recesses of intricately shaped parts.

The 4 important questions not answered by the video are: 1: How much did it cost? 2: Did it work? 3: Did the epoxy hold? 4: If it has failed, for how long did it function?

we bought this type of card and we want to build an ultrasound, the board (pcb) fails after a couple of minutes, and 220V charge stops working the circuit works because if it is tested with a new card, it works only for a few minutes. the question is whether this type of card is designed to work continuously or only for a few seconds P.S. the card is cooled by a fan does not exceed 36C

You seem to have built 2 systems - one with the transducer epoxied to the bottom of the pan and one where the pan simply sits on top of the transducer which is mounted in a perspex topped jig, The latter is the one which was demonstrated in operation. Questions: Why was there a hole drilled in the bottom of the pan on which the transducer was epoxied? Why was this unit not shown operating? It is usually not recommended to operate the transducer in an unloaded situation. Manufacturers of U/S cleaners always state that fluid must be added to the tank before turning on the transducer/s because the lifetime will be reduced markedly when operated unloaded. The jig mounted transducer you demonstrate opens the possibility of unloaded operation purely due to oversight in not mounting the pan and filling it with fluid.. In my experience general purpose epoxy as used in your video is not really suitable for transducer mounting. It softens readily when heated and the transducer can become detached. When that happens sparks can fly...literally. As supplied the transducers come with a short threaded stud. This is intended to be used where the user has the facility to thermo-weld this stud to the bottom of the panel to which the transducer is fitted - simply by screwing it onto the stud. Epoxy is then generally used to ensure the transducer does not unscrew during operation. Manufacturers (Chinese) of U/S cleaners use an epoxy such as 3M DP460NS but this is not generally available, is very expensive and requires a special applicator gun to ensure correct mix ratio. I find that Dynasteel Epoxy Paste www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/DynaGrip-QuickSteel-Epoxy-Paste-56g/1972 is a very good alternative. You will just need to find a local supplier. The 260 degC rating of this epoxy will be important where you are also fitting a heater element to the pan along with the transducer. The transducers are a capacitive device but they generally do have a nominal +ve and -ve terminal. The +ve terminal is the one sandwiched between the 2 ceramic discs. Conversely the -ve terminal is the lower one which is in contact with the aluminium cone at the bottom of the transducer. Polarity is important where transducers are to be connected in parallel.

From what I gathered, the 12v power supply was only used to power the 12v DC cooling fan on top of the case. The 240v AC would have been used to power both the 12v Power supply and the Transducers driver board.
@LookingForHeatCom
@LookingForHeatCom 7 жыл бұрын
Quite right - the 12V supply is just a little cheapy to run the cooling fan and power the 'on' LED. I like the LED since I often have other noisy stuff in my lab (vacuum pump, air compressor, cooling pumps) so it saves me forgetting it. The total build cost was (from memory) around US$100 or less, including the driver board, the 12V supply, fan, box and saucepan.

Haven't figured out what yet, but not the fuse. I have to check the transistors tomorrow. Could it be that those boards can't handle 2x 50W transducers, even though the are sold as a set? Oh and I DID fill the tank with water first before switching it on and I also had a fan running for cooling. Anyone sudjestions for me? It is very much apreciated.
