Broly was Toriyama's design! And the movies were trying to promote the show, so they always had a similar plot to the arc they were promoting. This meant some plot points went to the movies even if they dont make sense in the timeline or appeared first in a movie, like the fake SSJ. Toriyama famously had to make up another way for characters to fuse, since Gogeta was taken first by the movie lol

Takao Koyama designed Broly, and his design was inspired by Super Trunks (who was obviously designed by Toriyama) Also False SSJ was Toei's idea of a SSJ form, since the lord slug movie came out before Goku v Frieza.

@@amihilarious4665 Koyama created the character and was the screenwriter, but the design was Toriyama's! You can even find his sketches online(where he details why Broly doesnt have Saiyan Armor) and interviews where he says he designed it. And yeah, Fake SSJ was Toei's interpretation of the form, but thats because they knew SSJ was coming and had to make something up without an official design. The movies got notes about what Toriyama was planning and, like i said, had to tie to what was going on for promotion. Sometimes it led to bangers(Gogeta), sometimes it was Fake SSJ lmao

I know some game dev stuff, haven't looked too deeply into rollback myself but based on stories of others that have, retroactively adding Rollback to any game is actually insanely difficult since you need to basically redo a BUNCH of internal code and systems, since rollback only works if everything is made with it in mind from the start. That's just for 1v1 games. Since FighterZ is a 3v3 there are six characters and assists to keep track of, making it just exponentially more difficult. I also bet that FigherZ dev team is way smaller now so that doesn't help either. It's a shame it went the way it did

About the movies being rehashes of the anime, that was originally the point. It was a common thing back then for animes to make promotional movies that are shown in theaters and film festivals to show generally what the series is about and what is currently happening in the story...BUT some of them could have also just been laziness and Toei wanting a quick cash grab anyway eventually that method of promotion kinda died out so now we are where anime films are at today where they serve as continuations/something to give the fans something in-between the next project with something like let's say Resurrection F or turn an entire arc into a movie like Demon Slayer did with Mugen Train and that new one I think idk don't know anything about Demon Slayer
