That was a 'crash' in the engine? I think it was a switch in the cockpit. How lucky that there was a cameraman on the beach to film your unplanned and unexpected emergency.

Exactly what I thought. Just a normal, planned power off landing

I hope the tide washes that f'ing thing away, because of the title of this video alone. I was ripped-off, want my money back. And the music was inappropriate too. Cheerio, warmest regards, Brian.

And the beach just happened to be empty, except for one person with a camera who just happened to be there. I cry BS, this was a dead stick landing practice, no engine failure and definitely no crash. Thumbs down for a completely misleading title.
@truthseekers66610 жыл бұрын
Engine STOPPED, not crashed. Crashing is what you dio when you hit the ground badly and break the aircraft or bend it. This is known as a simple engine failure. Nice landing on the beach tho.
@Amram8110 жыл бұрын
***** Crashed is not a synonym(just another term) for failed, stopped, or cease to respond. Lets start with your example of the stock market, they aren't referring to the stock market stopping, because it doesn't stop. They aren't referring to its failure, because the market doesn't fail in the way that context implies(though the traders certainly can fail to perform adequately). The market can fail to meet expectations, but then fail has a different meaning from stop. They also aren't referring to it being unresponsive, because the market is responding to pressures, thats why its crashing. In a market crash it plummets, falls, and does so suddenly with great effect, that is a crash in that context. A heart doesn't crash, but a heart rate can. This is why it is called Cardiac Arrest, or it is said that their heart has stopped or failed. Not that their heart has crashed. A student cannot crash their test, but they can fail it. They fail to perform adequately. A bridge doesn't crash, yet its debris can come crashing down. The bridge will fail, buckle, or collapse. An unconcious person may be unresponsive, but they aren't said to have crashed. A car with a dead battery may be unresponsive, but it can't be said to have crashed without a collision having occurred. A car can crash which implies a collision, or it can fail which implies that it has ceased to function correctly. They are not equal. You can crash with no damage, and so your car will not fail, and you can break down without a crash occurring. You can suffer a power outage or power failure, but have you ever heard of a power crash during thunderstorms? You will never find crash as a synonym for those terms, because it isn't. If it were, each of these examples would work with crash in their place, because in crash would have similar meaning. They don't work because it doesn't. Stop jumping, cease jumping, they mean the same thing. Stop jumping, crash jumping.....what? Crash into, stop into....what? Context is everything, and 'engine crashed' is entirely incorrect given the context.

Sorry, I don't get it. Maybe you used the wrong word, 'cause in aviation "crash" is used for something totally different. It looks like a simulated engine failure. Is it legal in Brazil to land on a beach, or do you need a special clearance for that?

From the title I was expecting an ultralight to hit an engine mid-air
@rodneyredhill150011 жыл бұрын
Completely Agree. I have a PPL and have had on countless times done simulated engine failures for renewal tests. Fortunately, I have had air-force instructors.( My airport is military/civilian and the civil flight schools use airforce instructors). My first simulated failure, I went through the drills. -Change fuel tanks, try a re start, make a simulated mayday etc. The instructor almost whacked me on the head. He said.- "Fly the Plane. Look for a place to land. Don't waste time on frivolity".

Beautiful "forced" landing :) I have a friend who lives in Puerto Rico that practices landings like that all the time on empty beaches. Its a beautiful thing :) That looked like a CTLS, that would make it a Light Sport Aircraft (LSA), NOT an ultralight

so there was a crashing sound in the motor, and then you had to land in paradise. I got it. Your just missing periods in the title and description. Beautiful flight

This is not a crash landing, nor an engine failure. What it is, is a very skilled use of "Energy Management" to "Dead stick" land an aircraft precisely on a predetermined length of beach, at just the right tide conditions. I would hope I could do half as well if I had to do an engine out landing. nevjoll (downunder)

By American definiton it's an LSA. In most European countries it's an Ultralight or Microlight. There is no international standard for defining Ultralights so the meaning can change a lot from country to country. An by the way, it's a Comco Ikarus C42.

He referred crash to computer which means "an event that causes a computer system to become inoperative". By the way, he stated that "Ultralight crash in engine" so that means its an engine failure. Come on peeps, as daxdadog said, "the notes written by someone to whom English is a second language." Just enjoy it.. Anyway, nice landing,.

A very good video of a PFL with a stupid title, its a C42 microlight/Ultralight, the pilot has turned off the engine and glided down to do a super landing, with camera crew at the landing point. what can you learn from this video, if the engine should stop look at all the time you have to plan a landing. the great thing about this video, its shows when the engine is not working, Microlights don’t just fall out the sky.

actually the easiest way I remember the procedures is how my instructor showed me on the c172, he called them the ABCDE A:airspeed 65 knots(cessna) B: best Field for landing C: checklist(engine out during flight, which includes engine restart if possible) and if that fails D: declare emergency E: execute landing
@Jackle6112 жыл бұрын
Lighten up Francis. The person is from Brazil, so did you ever think maybe the translation software did a poor job of translating? It does say "crash in engine" so I would assume that meant the engine died. Nothing to get all testy about.

Emergency landing ? With someone that just happened to be on the ground filming in what seemed to be a remote area ? Sounds fishy to me. Plus, it's not an ultralight. It's an LSA.

Some people do talk a load of rubbish... You can turn a 912 over easily by hand, in fact part of the start procedure is to "gurgle" the engine first start of the day. (Turn over by hand until a gurgling eminates from the dry sump oil tank)

I would say your instructor is correct. But everyone teaches it different. I noticed you said 65KIAS EGS. I was taught 55. Of course I would do what the manual says for that aircraft. But I will always remember my first instructor who said you only got 1 engine anyway why not try and restart it if you have plenty of altitude at the time. Airspeed is money in the bank and altitude is interest. I was also taught to get airspeed as low as possible just before touchdown to increase survivability.

It's just another seized Rotax engine. Talk to anyone that has used a Rotax powered ultrlight, snowmobile, watercraft or whatever. Rotax middle name is seize.

Thats completely wrong. The first thing you do is establish best glide and look for a place to land. Once your approach is established, THEN you can try to restart the engine and call a mayday. Thats always first priority. You're obviously one of those flight sim heros.
@EvanM200712 жыл бұрын
I think what the person meant to say was engine "failure" but was thinking crash like a "computer crash". Same train of thought and principle just improper wording for English. Obviously the person is from Brazil so English would not be their first language.

Also the quality is exactly the same and he has time to move the camera around in flight. i know a few people who have had engine faliures and going by what they say you don't have time to think about any thing else just landing the plane.

No you missed my point. In any engine out emergency the first thing you do is try to get the engine running again. If this fails you establish emergency glide speed and look for a place to put it down. But as another viewer said it is obvious this is a fake video.

This looks very nice, although it's a staged. Altitude is security, but the situation would be illegal in Spain, we can not fly above 1,000 fts with this kind of aircraft-... moreover to found in Spain a beach with no tourists, it's really difficult!,.. and you don't make noise with a idle engine (nobody is seeing you). My last comment: It's looks like a "3-points" landing (the 3 wheels touch the ground at the same time). In soft sand areas like a beach, never do that. The song like.
@marcfeyzeau11 жыл бұрын
That's an easy one with a very small challenge considering the size of the beach !

It's called a 'dead stick' you have very limited choices to make for landing. no power means no going around or trying again
