My favorite Ultraman. Not just because its the darkest but that certainlly helped. Afew things that I loved about it are. Komon looks a believable Member of a Military group unlike most MCs that look barely in their 16s. He became an Ultraman late in the story, looks bad but this lead into some awesome things about the show. Like, their squad being actually useful, even managing to kill Monsters on their albeit late. It may look meh to kids and some dumbo out there, but considering the purpose of most said squads or forces is to justify Ultraman Appearing in the nick of time, I find it refreshing that they do acrually matter. Its the perspective, we always saw only the POV of the MC who is Ultraman. Hence there were no actual even need for other characters. Here, every character fits the setting and offers something to the story. No, they're just 'cause reasons. Different Avatars for the Ultraman showed things never shown in other Ultraman. Actual growth, the why they are chosen, the why they fight, how they face thekr situation, the deslair, fear, uncertainty, how they push through or move on to contiue. Basically they are humanized. Also, lets be honest. This is one if not the only time we had Female Ultraman, Both Good and Bad to boot.Next, it showed the one thing that most Fusion/Hybrid/Combination Ultraman never did. Their lrevious incarnations helping them, encouraging them in their time of need. Lastly, I love how they treated Ultraman. Not an instant messiah but in how it grew to be the saviour/hero we needed. Lets be honest Ultramen looks fucking creepy. Gigantic, Glowing Eyes, no facial expression, collateral Damage, Powerful, etc.

Two things: 1. Outside of watching the first episode of the original 60s series and laughing at it (before I got into Ultraman for real), Nexus and the 2004 movie that precedes it were my introduction to Ultraman. This final battle still gets me, the music, the crowds cheering him on, and the final reveal of Ultraman Noa are just so perfect. Not to mention I still feel like whoever Nexus/Noa's suit actor(s) is are the best of the franchise, the way Nexus moves is the coolest and most "real" feeling out of all that I've seen. 2. Crunchyroll doesn't subtitle the opening and ending songs, so I did not know what the lyrics to "Eiyuu" were before. Sure, they're generic, but I already loved the song and now it packs even more of a punch.

Too bad that it's technically axed due to poor rating at the time (I read). The poor rating is because it's more aimed for more mature audience. It is an "mature" tokusatsu, the same as the 2016 kamen rider amazons. If only it's not released in 2004 but in more recent year, I think it's gonna get a better tv rating (and full (side) series). Seeing that more mature audience is more common nowadays. Axed : completed before the planned length. It's more common in mangas, Mainly to empty a slot (I guess). Still get an ending but with fewer episode. It's usually due to some circumstances.

Komon becoming Nexus and then Noa goes just as hard as Kagami becoming Kabuto. The biggest difference is that Komon actually became the titular Ultra in the actual show, although I wish it lasted longer for actual buildup to make it more satisfying than it did.

One thing I love about Nexus is how it manages to actually deconstruct many tropes of the Ultraman series. For starters, the host of Nexus isn’t exactly a mentally stable person and as a result, Nexus isn’t fully trusted. I also find the portrayal of the kaiju here more interesting. Unlike Cosmos where a majority of them were non malicious monsters that had no bad intentions or just acting on instinct, all of the kaiju Nexus fights appear to not be mindless beasts or giant animals. Here, in Nexus, the kaiju are portrayed as genuinely malovelont monsters whose presence is kept a secret from the public as unlike the kaiju in Cosmos, all the space beasts in Nexus actually inflict psychological hysteria onto the people

That's because this show is meant for an older audience that Tsuburaya wanted it to air on a later time schedule rather than the usual time schedule that they got which is meant for kids especially after a series like cosmos who's super child friendly and caused the bad rating and therefore shortening the episodes

This compassion is a little undermined when Ultraman destroys their ship - which contained 2.3 billion Miniaturized Baltans: this disturbingly large kill rate only avoids being genocide because some survive to threaten Earth in a later episode. Another story has a stranded astronaut mutating into a monster, then returning to Earth seeking revenge, the authorities having covered up their disappearance to avoid bad publicity: Ultraman kills him but he and the SSSP are distraught at having to do so. Some Kaiju mean no harm: one is trying to defend children from automobiles, another just wants to sleep. Compassion is shown for the monsters: in one episode a Buddhist ceremony is held for all the Kaiju the SSSP have killed.

What i love about this series is how we get to watch our protagonist Komon was being groomed to be the best version of a deunamist for this very moment. After being a supporting role to the deunamist heroes (each with their own traumas and probs) throughout the entire show, this was the moment we have been waiting for. Our man Komon finally becoming a deunamist himself at the eleventh hour, motivated and able to access forms of the past deunamists and the final most powerful form of Noa. Truly a great character development arc.

I guess it was episode 25. Since Himeya, the silver giant that she hated so much sacrificed himself to defeat Mizorogi and disappeared. Then the next deunamist is Ren who is just an innocent teenage that not involve in her hatred, and Mizorogi's death may be the one changed her target to Unknown hand instead. These are what I guess.

l love shows like this were they also focus on the side characters or just those characters that have a impact on the protagonist and not just focus mainly on the Protagonist too bad there aren't much series's like this i've come across. the recent ultraman series's are unoriginal and just borrow powers from other ultraman. Orb was understandable since they lost their original powers and geed needed a second gene other than belial.
