In OH what’s the difference between ultramarine deep and regular?

Hey John, Ultramarine Blue Deep is a little more transparent (semi transparent vs semi opaque in Ultramarine Blue (regular)) and Deep also has a tad more of a red shade.

Is there no way to find genuine manganese blue pb33? I was just able to get two tubes of manganese blue deep with pb33 and pv16. so i guess i was very lucky there.

Hi Jimi. Yes, you were very lucky there indeed! Enjoy working with it! As far as I know, the production of PB 33 was discontinued worldwide because of toxicity and because the process of producing the pigment was harmful to the environment. You may want to try Manganese Blue extra if you run out. It is a beautiful composite or hue paint that comes very very close and to me is very good as an alternative. Love painting with it. Cheers

What’s the difference in French ultramarine?

Hi Jeremy, the biggest difference is that OH Ultramarine Blue is a single pigment (PB29). It is semi-opaque. The OH French Ultramarine Light Extra is a composite color (PB29 +PB28). It is semi-transparent. Hope this helps

Ultramarine leans towards red, how can it be warm when it leans towards a cool red? Both blues are cool.

Blues that lean twords purple and that is considered a warm blue Manganese blue leans twords green and is considered to be a cool blue Both colors are cool, but one is warmer and one is cooler
