I've been a long time VMP member and VMP sends pretty most of their records already in a anti static sleeve and I rarely ever find debris which leaves me to believe they clean them before they ship them to the customer. Any other record I buy especially in a paper sleeve I always clean. VMP I use them right out the anti static sleeve and play them and every time their flawless except for when there can be an issue with the pressing.

Some new vinyl is cleaner than the others. That’s clearly the case. Among the few, the Analogue Productions even Blue Note seems to put out a vinyl records with less issues and contamination. Some EU pressing plants as well. It has more to do with pressing plant and quality control than anything else. I don’t feel that you need to clean every single new vinyl record but it doesn’t hurt. And if you have the means to do it in an easy to use and efficient way such as HumminGuru, I would say go for it. You’ve got nothing to lose. 😉

I do not understand the purpose of ' cleaning' a brand new vinyl. Is it the ultimate objective of an ultrasound record cleaning machine? But I loved the immaculate album!

Objective is to get the most out of our records. Cleaning them is part of it. Why clean new records? Well, pressing plants where records are made aren’t exactly sterile environments and process itself is a messy brute force. Stamper that presses on a blob of a raw vinyl needs either a release agent to work smoothly or release agent is impregnated into the vinyl chemical composition. Either way, there’s a residue after the record is pressed. And than there’s environment contamination plus handling of the record throughout the process. Some plants are better than others when it comes to cleanness. You would be surprised how much crap can be found on some of those new pressings. Hope that explains the “why”. Cheers

Hi, I just cleaned the firsts my100 LPs. The product is fantastic. You can appreciate the difference when you play the cleaned LP. Very satisfied. Very goofg price/performance. 5 STARS !!!
