My thanks for elucidating a very challenging subject! Lack of bony landmarks makes identifying origin of inferior epigastric artery at external iliac essential. The tip about abdominal contents rising superior to artery is extremely helpful as I notice that some people will bulge more than others. You put into words something that I intuited but had never actually expressed.

Amazing lecture. I have a question about recurrent hernia after surgery. Is protocol same non surgical?

I had on the right side a mesh for an inguinal hernia and also a Spiglian hernia about 4 weeks ago. I started to get some pain on the right side again. I think a hernia (like an occult hernia) may have come back. The reason for the mesh removal was the mesh appeared to be causing a body reaction to create adhesions even after I had them cut out a couple of times I think I should not have it it the meshes removed but had gone with another surgeon who would have possibly replaced the mesh with a different type. I have a consultation with the surgeon in a couple of days. Should I request an ultrasound? (An ultrasound was how the Spiglian hernia was detected 2 years ago.). Thank you.

hi my question is, if it would be ok to ask,, i know someone with a groin hernia, and they have been unable to get it fixed,, he has had it for 16 to 17 years, he functions ok i guess, but he has a lot of pain. he uses medication for pain management so my question is it normal for the scrotum to swell or become very grossly enlarged, and or can it be life threatening at this point he is 63 and still works and i want him to stop but we trying save money for the surgery.. thank you /sorry if i upset anyone,
