This is fantastic.... can't wait to use it. As a side note, I always do in-plane cannulation but I start out of plane, then *rotate* the probe while keeping the vein in view all the time... then I cannulate. No need to lift, rotate, replace. As long as you keep the vein dead-centre while you rotate, you can't go wrong.

Dear Mark. I would like to point some improvements that could be done to educational and practical purposes. In ultrasound there is a rule regarding to imaging and documenting that allow us not to do better eye-hand coordination and understanding of static or moving imagens. The left side of the screen is always (in a transversal plane) the left side of the patient and the left side of the screen is always the head direction of patient (in a sagital plane). So when you are doing a puncture in a limb, the left side of the screen is the head of patient. It makes sense for eye-hand coordinating and also for documentation. I have made this point because you showed a technique punctioning in reverse image what is confusing and not pedagogical because this is not how we do needle access under ultrasound guidance. just realized the artificial blood vessel in this video is 1cm, thats about the size of the femoral vein. I used this for a peripheral iv line, got it perfect just like in the video a couple of times in a vein about .3cm but its super hard. Hard to pick up the needle like in this video in real tissue full of hyperecho fatty tissue. Love the butterfly for quick examinations in the ER, its part of my physical exam now, really helps make the work up more concise. invest a few extra minutes into the exam and same lots of time down the road.
