As a true Herefordian I thought you'd like to know a saying about Herefords. It goes like this; strong in the body and thick in the head. Wednesday was cattle market day and the once a week farmers going to the market were known to cause chaos on the roads. We'd call it wallies on the road day. Lol

Just drove by your neck of the woods today, 9/27/22, on Interstate 90. Shocked how dry it is in SD. Sloughs dried up, pastures dead brown. Saw folks baling corn stalks, soybean stalks and road ditch grass. Winter forage will be priceless this year. Here’s hoping you guys are set.

Like your Herefords. Can't beat that Hereford / Angus Cross! Those baldies will top the market on the steer end and the heifers will make good replacements. I run Hereford cattle and use Angus Bulls on my Commercial Cows and all heifers. Good video

I grew up raising Herefords in Michigan. Two of my sisters were actually Michigan Hereford Queens at different times. In late 60's early 70's. We used to tell them they were queen of the cows. Gave them scholarship money for school.

My grandparents raised Herefords in the Val Marie/Cadillac area of southern Saskatchewan & later in Silver Park area after migrating north during the dirty thirties. My grandma loved Hereford cattle for their temperament and hardiness. She would say, “No matter how dry the summer, or how cold the winter, if you can grab a Hereford cow by the tail, she will pull you through.”
@debt47172 жыл бұрын
They're a pretty docile breed. Dad raised herfords and awhile back I emailed Cole a pic of us three kids back in the 60's where we had haltered one of our 4-H calves and my little brother was on her back and I was leading them around.

Some nice looking heifers of both breeds, had both, but mostly Angus. For you all I would guess the start of the silo getting filled is exciting, getting the bin filled is the ultimate goal, so your on your way there. The percentage of heifers that were bred vs not bred was outstanding, hard to achieve, congratulations on that one. Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing, have a great week.

Gads, you've got a jumper Angus!! Never have understood what gets into their heads to do that kind of stunt! Good luck with raising those twins. Looks like Tiff will get her first ranch job... bottle feeding. 😂 and what a kind thing for that lady to do in sending you a quart of freshly canned peaches. I know all too well the hard work &long hours that go into canning any food! I have been up to my neck in canning up garden harvest, meat out of the freezers to make way for the new meat coming in a couple months and yes, PEACHES too. Lol! Getting close to cattle round up time up here so my kitchen hours will get swapped out for ranch chores very soon. Im looking forward to the "outdoor vacation" hahahaha!!

Thanks for another great video. Those peaches are good I bet. Enjoy them. Nice lady to do that. You did really good on your preg checks. Reflects in the way you handle your herds. You both are excellent herdsmen. And even one with twins. Ya!!!!’ You did that group in quick order. You have a nice setup for handling your cows. Well you got some corn done which is good. Sorry you ran into some high moisture corn. Assuming you will feed to your cows. Nice giveaway you have coming up. Nice gifts. Brian. Will have to check out your song of the day. Never heard that one before. Thanks. Sounds like you and Tiffany and family members are busy getting your house redone and cleaned up. Always a big job. About it for now. You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

Don't ask how or why, just trust me this is true. 1978. I was transporting the Iowa Beef Queen around San Francisco to do media interviews as a spokesperson for corn fed beef from Iowa. We were in a rock station. The disc jockey doing the interview asked her name, here title and where she was from. She introduced herself, said she was the Iowa Beef Queen and that she was from Dyke, Iowa. The dude looked squarely at me and said, "This is too good to be true." I said, "Be nice."

I really like how relaxed herefords are. I don't run any herefords but I do have some black baldy cows. Charolai aren't as relaxed but the heifer not leave the squeeze chute is dead on how charolai are in the chute. My blacks I really don't have much to say. You get some calm some wild and some that fly just like every other breed. But hereford influence is the most calmest breed. If you have any dark red herefords try to keep their calfs if you ever keep their influence straight hereford. There become more the thing a long with polled but horned are still very active.
