What if the food's been exposed to UV light for a year? Is it still preserved or is it gonna have side effects? Just trying to do research for homework.
@arneaiking88762 жыл бұрын
Nope. A few seconds is best. Long term exposure can give damage to the food, sort of like sunburn.

HELLO WILL THIS METHOD WORK ON MILK PRODUCTS BEFORE THEY PACK TO INCREASE SHELFLIFE????
@arneaiking88762 жыл бұрын
Yes, milk, wine, juices, etc (Drinkwater is most common. It is clear, so you can use standard lamps. Milk and wine are more opaque, so they require stronger lamps/ and/or lower flowrates.)

It will work for clear liquid, i see normally they use it for water, but for milk, i am not sure. I work in a juice factory, UV light can only control the bacterial in the air on top of the surface of juice but not the juice itself
@stephenketcher12 жыл бұрын
@@shintran whats the name of the machine used for that in your juicery? We use thermal pasteurization but wish to move from that. Thanks
@shintran2 жыл бұрын
@@stephenketcher1 You can investigate in the HPP (High pressure pasteurizer) which will work with pre-packed juice. But UV light will not work in the case of juice, unless it's clear liquid.
