I understand why they did it. The ESRB (Entertainment Service Rating Board, USA) found the cut scene to be a religious offense, and had Nana-on-Sha rewrite the cut scenes and part of the gameplay so that us Americans won't be offended by the religious reference.

There is a catch with this cutscene. While Europe and Japan got the cutscene shown in the video, In the american release, Lammy gets caught on a doorknob, stretches like an elastic band, and gets flung to preceding areas of the game (with VHS rewind effect to avoid localization costs) and lands on an island unscathed. The cutscene had to be changed because of the fact that us americans are religious. However, I think the japanese version of this cutscene is more creative and amusing. One more thing: How come Lammy dies via SLIPPING ON A BANANA PEEL? Logic in PaRappa Town, I guess.

In case you're wondering, I got dressed up as U.S. Camo Lammy on Halloween night 2009, complete with jungle makeup, vines, and the guitar. Oh, and the three angel pins on my shirt symbolize that not only has Lammy got guardian angels at her side, but also that they represent the three members of MilkCan, and that they are a reminder of Teriyaki Yoko's line "Somebody come and rescue me before an angel comes to take me 'round and 'round" in the song "Taste of Teriyaki". Cool, huh? :)

@@Cris-ou1py Someone who also thought that was the case. I thought PJ was acting odd over the course of the week Parappa's campaign took place in, before the Milkcan concert on Friday. He always changed the subject to food, and 1. Blamed Parappa for playing "funny" while both were playing guiros, which or not rock instruments 2. Turned a guitar into a guiro Also, even though the music changes mainly to fit in with the character's respective music genres, PJ could've helped a small bit in bad mode in stage 7 during Lammy's turn, like how in Parappa's version, the music simply becomes slightly quieter, though Lammy's changes drastically. I guess he prefers hip hop over rock to the point where he does *that,* Or he must already know Lammy and as you said, hates her for some unknown reason. Maybe something happened back then.

It's a Japanese game. In Japan Hell doesn't carry the same negative connotation that it does in the west. Only God's live in heaven. Everyone else goes to Hell. Bad or good.

You must have the USA version. In the USA version Lammy gets her belt stuck on the door knob of the guitar store and somehow gets flung back in time and lands on an exotic island. In the Japan and PAL versions, Lammy slips on a banana peel that PJ left behind, falls, and dies and winds up in hell.

If they had, the final (ill-fated) part of Chop Chop Master Onion's rap-prophecy in her dream in Stage 1 would not have been fulfilled. Also, it's as if she had attempted to avoid her fate and skip the final part of the prophecy by narrowly avoiding the collision by two cars crashing into each other near the store. Little did she realize that if the cars didn't kill her or make her go into hell, it's the falling impact from the slip on the banana peel on the floor that did her in. :P

That's the US version, where this scene was replaced because.. well, because it's SCARY. I mean, good god, playing guitar in hell in front of an amorphous and faceless crowd which gets electrocuted by cartoon skeletons if you play wrong? That's almost beyond disturbing into outright unhinged. As was the failure ending, where the crowd gets broken in half and the singer yells, "You should be banned from every game!"
