Yeah, just the air coming out will blow a hole in you, not kidding. I accidently shot it empty at the lawn from about 8 inches away. It put a hole in the lawn that, lets just say, would have blown my foot CLEAN OFF. Good thing it was pointed in a safe direction. That was with NO AMMO!

I was just about ready to get the full sized original Hammer. I'm glad that I kept looking, and found the Carbine. Of course shorter, which I prefer, but it also looks like the magazines are improved, and a bigger tank. It is on Backorder, but shouldn't be long. I am new to airguns, having a blast with my 22 Sig MCX Virtus!

I have a couple of Hatsans, but not the Piledriver. I've handled and shot one, but don't own one. The Hammer is a much better gun in many ways. The Hatsan is like carrying a sack of lead. Now I own the Hammer full series, not carbine. The regular Hammer has a fairly short length. The Piledriver, in my opinion, is the worst looking, big bore PCP, on the market. It just looks horrible with that plain, long barrel. Looks aside, it will do the job.

From day one this platform has had issues from injuries because of air blowing past the magazine to reliability issues. I really hope they got all the bugs worked out this time. This Hammer has been a long road of tweaking if they finally got it right. Stay safe bud.

The kewl aspect of this BEAST is the price point, full retail is a paltry U.S. $1,000. That thing is so powerful, where I live in densely packed San Francisco I wouldn't put air in the tank until I'm in the countryside hills or on a remote part of our Pacific coastline. Trivia: Here in San Francisco there's a little-known city ordinance that prohibits discharge of air or kinetic guns unless you are shooting the gun in self-defense. A first time violation will most likely be charged as an infraction (like a traffic ticket). But at the option of the prosecutor can be charged as a misdemeanor. So word to the wise, check your town's laws on discharging airguns within city limits B4 you discharge one of these. I have no problem with such laws, because these things are more powerful and dangerous than firearms. (People get lax when handling airguns because in their minds these are not firearms. But an errant Hammer shot in one's apartment or condo, most likely the slug is going through a wall, floor, window, or ceiling.)

Great review, thanks. Couple of questions: (a) looks like this barrel comes pre-threaded for a suppressor? (b) one of the problems that the original hammer has is the amount of air leakage around the magazine which increases when using a baffled suppressor - can you characterize the "blow-back" (does it seem that they have improved that issue)?

I’m really curious, between the Umarex carbine and the airforce carbine both in the .50 caliber. What would you recommend. The airforce you can upgrade it more. But I don’t think you would need to upgrade the Umarex. The Umarex already has a threaded end to accept a moderator. Even that is a plus. I’m not sure if one can accept a longer slug than the other though. The Umarex also has a bottle that can, accept a higher pressure too. I’ve never used either one yet so. I can’t say for sure that one is better than the other.

@@AirgunChannelI own the air force Texan in 45, just got the aea challenger elite from fox air in 45 as well , my first pcp and still own as well is the Benjamin bulldog in 357, I also picked up a hatsan jet 2 , I need to start recording more and uploading some videos, next pcp I get will probably be a 50 cal , I cast all my own slugs for my bigger calibers. You can get pcp air guns and legally fire them in cities in the U.S., but they are too loud imo. Some air rifles can fire 300 grain slugs at 800 feet per second. Enough to put a fist sized hole through a car door.

Still doesn't hold a candle to Zeus! I was seriously considering the Hammer until I read reviews on it. The huge blast of air back in the shooters face was #1 no for me. I'm EXTREMELY happy with the Zeus 72 though. I'm still considering a Hammer just for fun but it's not at the top anymore.

I have that same exact air compressor and I was wondering if the defect was at about 3000 PSI it sounded like the pump started to slip and it no longer filled the tank past 3000. If this is the case then the manufactusir needs to re-engineer this defective product because that pump is about $400 when everything is said and done.

It got a leak. Those ususally last about 3-6 months for me. I have bought about 10 of them. Go with AMAZON and buy the 3 year protection for $36. You will beat the system that way.
