Hi, thank you. I found that the best way to get the best finish using the birchwood Casey aluminium black was to apply just once and then wash off after no longer than 2 minutes. Then to gently pat dry and not to rub. Then apply oil immediately and leave overnight. I used cheap paint stripper from screw fix called “no nonsense”. I removed all the parts. And I mean everything! I left all the parts submerged in the stripper overnight. At least 12 hours. Then used wire wool and stiff brush to really get all the paint off. Then cleaned all parts thoroughly and cleaned again with fine wire wool prior to blacking. It took a long time but was fun to do. Hope this helps. I look forward to creating more vids on other similar projects soon 👍

Great job, it looks awesome you have really nailed the finish, I’m thinking of getting one and doing the same, I have done similar with the walther ppk, webley mkvi and colt SAA using Philips gun blue, can I ask how did you remove the original finish ?

Hi, nice gun. What paint did you use to paint that word saying Safety? And how did you paint it so perfectly without touching areas around the letters?

Hi thanks for your message. I just used some gold pain from a spray can and then applied with very thin brush. I already had a a few cotton swabs on hand which had acetone (nail varnish remover) soaked in ( not dripping just a little) and then wiped over the top to clear any paint overrun. As the safety lettering in sunken in, the acetone only removed the areas of paint that were sitting proud. That way you get a really good finish. Hope that helps

@@Waxmax Hi, thank you for the answer. I noticed that this gun out of the box comes with P08 engraving on the frame by the corner there, but you have removed it? How did you that?

No worries. All that white lettering was only painted so came off easily

@@Waxmax Ok, that little safety "flag" that you made silver... Did you sand the finish off it without disassembling it, right on the gun? Or you took it off in order not to touch the surroundings with the sand paper? And one more question please: did you sand off the black finish of the magazine bottom or did you just paint it over with silver spray color?

Hi, I completely disassembled the gun. Not just the field strip. The safety part you are asking about was of course removed as well and then I used the same paint stripper and then a fine wet and dry paper. The magazine was done the same way and no silver paint was used as it’s made of aluminium anyway.

I lost my patience on the wooden grips. At the end they came out being too short for the screw to fit in. I‘m gonna live with the black plastic 😢😂

That’s a shame. But you now know where you went wrong. It was the same with me. If you can afford another set you should try again. It’s worth it. Just do a little at a time. Wish I could be more help. If another video would help you please let me know and if so what detail you would want to see

@@Waxmax i kinna know what i did wrong. I also think the original grips might differ slightly, depending where u buy them. But surprisingly i find the left grip easier to do than the right. The right one doesn‘t have the little noses to clip under. Anyways, i don‘t think i‘ll do it again shortly. But will keep it mind. Challenging after all for sure.
