Number Five is one of the forty-three children who were all born on the same day in 1989 to a mother without any previous signs of pregnancy. The baby was one of seven adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves with the intention of training them to save the world. Number Five had the ability to time travel, and ended up trapped in the future as a boy. He eventually returned to The Umbrella Academy years later with a message that the world was due to end in eight days. Number Five is played by Aidan Gallagher in the Netflix adaptation of The Umbrella Academy.
Ability: He is able to travel through space and time.

He holds his own and then some in a cast of people twice his age, and plays the part of an old man trapped in a kid body so convincingly that sometimes when new characters react to him as an actual child or are surprised that he does things like orders black coffee and drinks alcohol and ya know murders people... When he went into apocalypse future her's was the first name he called out, they really seem to care about each other: he doesn't judge her over the book, entrusts her with the apocalypse details, and she left him marshmallow and peanut butter sandwiches for years hoping he'd return.

The kid who plays 5 in the series is the stand out. He's amazing. I can't stand kids or even young teens in serious roles but this young man does a great job. The one whose powers and backstory I thought would be the most difficult to pull off on the show was done almost flawlessly. its mianly since the first two story arcs were basically driven by his time travelling shenanigans, with apocalypse sweet bbeing about what he saw in the future and dallas about what he's been up to between then and now. also one thing I noticed is that the comics so far have like a scene setting up the enxt story, such as dallas showing scenes of mr perseus setting him up as the main villain of Hotel Oblivion

I always felt 5 was the mc of the mcs in the umbrella academy. In the comics he wasn’t as in the center as he is in the show. I’m not complaining about this at all, number 5 actor does a really good job at making the character seem and act real and human like, he also helps pull if the badassness five is known for. Fives wit in the show is also pulled off perfectly in the show thanks to him. But I gotta day that Five still seemed like the center of attention in a whole lot of episodes. I guess that’s how the plot made him, the first two seasons were about time travel fives forte. And the third will probably have time travel as a element, but more of a side thing rather than a focus in the first two seasons.
