In this video, NMS sir explains the Rain Man concept from the Kinematics topic for JEE Mains and JEE Advanced Physics.
Rain Man concept is an important concept for JEE Physics especially in mechanics, and this is also one of the most important topics from the Kinematics class 11th mechanics. Every year many questions are asked in IIT JEE on this topic and it is expected also that one question will come in the JEE Mains 2025 and JEE Advanced 2025 examinations. So every JEE aspirant needs to understand the Rain Man problem concept very well.
Rain Man problems concept and tilting of the umbrella can be explained through relative velocity and this is also one of the most important concepts in mechanics and JEE physics. Relative velocity shows how one object's motion looks to another moving object.
NMS sir explains this concept very well and took different umbrella and raindrop cases to discuss this important mechanics concept which will help you to clear your basic concept of tilting of umbrella in the Rain Man problem.

NMS sir Is question ko solve kriye. Hamare pas ek turbine h jisme 10 blades hain. Sabhi blades ki length L aur width x hai. Motai negligible h. Sabhi blades ek point se connected hain aur is trah se hamari turbine ban jati h. Turbine k sabhi blades k planes turbine k plane k perpendicular h. Unfortunately mai is cheez ka yha pe figure nhi bna skta hu, aap apne se samajh lijiye mai kya kah rha hu. Shuru me turbine ω angular velocity se ghum rha h. Iske bad is turbine ko η viscosity aur ρ density k water me duba diya jata h jisse iski angular velocity kuch kam ho jati h. Turbine ki new angular velocity kya hogi?

🙂 11th me kbhi ya rain wala concept nhi smjh aaya tha sir . Now the path of drops are clear and the size concept is actually never explained by my teacher when I was in 11th. Great explanation sir

Maybe another approach could be to think in terms of time frames(Sorry sir just realised you told the same thing).....as the man progresses forward , the vertically falling section of rain ahead of him seems to be approaching him , instaed of falling striaght as he reaches a certain point on the surface before rain itself...sir fir ham keh sakte hain ki this applies to every section of the rain which he will see tha is falling....as falling of rain is a time dependent phenomenon , not solely dependent on the position.....aap sach me mahan teacher ho sir😊

Sir aap great hai,but Jo aapne kaha ki chhata chota hai yeh baat bhi practical nahi hai sayad Jada practical yeh hai ki chhata is of normal size and we hold it to guard maximum area of our body,ek baar sooch ke please dekheagaa🙏

इस model में raindrops को layers में देखना सही नहीं रहेगा, उन्हें “continuously falling water lines at every point at every instance” के रूप में देखना चाहिए। यहाँ “कितना छोटा छाता” का भी सवाल तब है जब दिया गया हो कि वह व्यक्ति कितनी तेजी से आगे बढ़ना चाहता है। Simple vertically falling water lines का ही case लें, तो useful question यह बनता है कि h height व b thickness वाला कोई व्यक्ति अपने d diameter वाले umbrella को कितने आगे की ओर, व अपने head से कितनी ऊँचाई पर, व vertical से किस angle पर लगाए कि वह maximally-possible speed से आगे बढ़ सके और भीगे भी नहीं। यहाँ यह तो obvious है कि उसे अपने umbrella का पिछला हिस्सा अपने शरीर के पिछले हिस्से के ठीक ऊपर रखना चाहिए और अपने head से सटाकर ही रखना चाहिए। अब केवल question है कि umbrella को आगे की ओर कितना झुकाकर रखे कि वह maximum speed से आगे बढ़ सके। Case 1: यहाँ व्यक्ति की thickness (b, गति की दिशा वाली) को h व d की तुलना में काफी कम (negligible) मान लेते हैं। Maximum speed के लिए condition यह है कि किसी भी water line को जैसे ही उसके umbrella का सबसे अगला हिस्सा cut करता है तो जो water line का segment छाते के नीचे आ गया उसकी Vr speed से नीचे गिर रही सबसे ऊपर वाली raindrop भूमि पर गिरते समय Vm speed से आगे बढ़ रहे उस व्यक्ति के सबसे निचले हिस्से (अर्थात उसके पैर) को केवल छू ही पा रही हो। Mathematically, this condition is- [Top raindrop का भूमि पर पहूँचने का समय] is-less-than-or-equal-to [Person का उस raindrop की line में पहूँचने का समय] Or, [h-dcos(θ)]/Vr
