Umi is half African-American (father) and half Japanese (mother). Both parents have musical backgrounds and she started writing music when she was 4. She was born in Seattle and her middle name means Sea in Japanese which is so beautiful. She's beautiful! Umi is using she/they pronounce btw and has a GF she is a huge black Queer Activist, it's always nice to tannies working with people and culture that are the foundation of the Genre they use. RNB/Jazz/Rap is all black music, and it's pleasant to see that these artists, acknowledge BTS and the members, and see that they genuinely love those genres. People like Wu Tang (Hobis samples for JITB) J Cole, Erika Badu, Warren G, Umi don't collab with anybody. Since kpop has a big history of appropriating black culture. Umi is a long time ARMY btw, their favorite Song is Save me.
