The Miami Method is a minimally invasive approach Dr. Lamelas has performed in more than 7,000 cases, and one that has been demonstrated to have many advantages for patients versus traditional, open-heart surgery. The Miami Method enables most patients to go home in about three days, with less tissue trauma, scarring, and pain in comparison to open heart surgery. Risk of infection is also greatly reduced, and healing is quicker.
