Fredrica Bernkastle is a Rika based character. She has the same voice as in Higurashi, which isn't hard to notice. Though she has a different attitude she is still, pretty much, the same character wise, as in, Same looks, same voice Only difference, she's a Witch and plays an entirely different role (And plus she doesn't die constantly) Sorry to affiliate myself in this, however I believe I should have gave my shot at, pretty much, sorting out what's different and the same. :)

BloodyNeko12, ORIHIMAN; there is a connection. I don't know if you could call it a spoiler, a rather small connection between them. The connection is small but Higurashi's influence on Umineko is great since ... can't say. If you want me to spoil you PM me :P

People belive it is, so ofcourse they're going to speak like that The best way to put all over this is that umineko and Higurashi exist in the same universe, however, do not directly/hugely influence the other in the same way you and I live inthe same universe, on the same planet but have never met (I asume)

man... she says it in the tea party for non human, read that chapter, she tells Battler about her experience in the game with Lambdadelta... she is the same Bernkastel. Anyway, if you want to believe she isnt, so be it but i think there is no need to refuse that because it really doesn't matter too much in the story. Sorry for my bad english xP In case you cant understand some parts of my writting. Im good listening and reading but i suck at writting =P
